Karl by Karl Lagerfeld: The Complete Collection

Karl by Karl Lagerfeld: The Complete Collection

We’ve been seeing bits and pieces of the Karl by Karl Lagerfeld collection online–we even got to style a model using pieces from the collection–but it finally (finally) goes on sale today at Net-a-Porter, starting at 10 a.m. Pieces range in price from $50 for a canvas tote to just over $1,000 for leather pieces. The Cut and Vogue UK both got a hold of the full look book modeled by Lagerfeld muse Saskia de Brauw. It makes us want to slick back our hair and wear silver leather RIGHT NOW.

On another note, we know that Karl is relatively tech savvy and carries around multiple iPads–and Net-a-Porter just tweeted that Karl is now on Twitter.

Exclusive: Peep TEXTILE Elizabeth and James’ Spring 2012 Look Book

As if this cold weather didn’t already have us wishing it was spring, TEXTILE Elizabeth & James‘ new look book is certainly doing the job.

I mean, c’mon, vintage-looking overalls, perfectly-worn-in shirts, crazy-floral-and-striped-printed pants–not to mention loads of pretty colored denim: What’s not to love? P.S. do you think we can make pink and purple tie-dye jeans work for the office? Please say yes!

Peep the Full Madewell Spring 2012 Look Book

Madewell’s Spring 2012 look book has finally arrived, courtesy of Lucky Magazine, and it’s just as pretty, wearable and drool-worthy as we suspected it would be. Actually, it may even be more so.

There are pretty, mid-calf skirts, color-blocked tees, and perfectly beachy washed out stripes. The denim, always one of Madewell‘s strong suits, is particularly on point–we love the green and pale yellow jeans (could anything say springtime more?) as well as the overalls. But our favorite piece has to be the denim jacket with colorblock sleeves.

Now all we have to do is wait a few more months until we can purchase all these goodies. Sigh.

Click through to see the whole look book.

First Look: Aritzia Spring 2012

Canadian retailer Aritizia has been at its new home in Soho for about five months now and seems to be doing well, putting out cute, affordable, current clothes with consistency. The brand’s spring 2012 collection was unveiled yesterday and it doesn’t disappoint.

The collection is full of cute, easy, wearable pieces that are on trend but not obnoxiously so. In fact, there are a lot of chic, simple classic pieces like button-downs, blazers, simple trousers and a great trench that, given the retailer’s focus on quality, will likely stand the test of a decent amount of time. There are also tons of pretty, feminine dresses in pastels and washed out colors as well as ethereal fabrics like silk georgette, crepe de chine, organza and silk charmeuse. Click through for a preview!

Cat-Obsessed, Cat-Tattooed Model Stars in Cat-Filled Look Book for Aussie Label Stylestalker

Cat-Obsessed, Cat-Tattooed Model Stars in Cat-Filled Look Book for Aussie Label Stylestalker

We love it when a designer or stylist decides to throw a cat element into a shoot for an added dash of cuteness. We love it even more, though, when they really commit. In Australian label Stylestalker’s latest look book for their “Baby’s on Fire” collection, you can tell that the model, Anja Konstantinova–who poses gracefully throughout the look book with an adorable white cat (while sometimes wearing cat ears herself)–really, really loves cats. Why? Because she has, in addition to three cats of her own, four cat-themed tattoos: “Cat” in Russian on her arm, “Meow” on her inner lower lip, “Cat” in English on the back of her neck and a drawing of a cat on her torso, all of which you can see in the first video below.

She also talks about how she gets along well with cats because she feels like she’s “a bit of a cat” herself and reckons she was a cat in a past life. She’s basically the prettiest cat lady ever.

Opening Ceremony Spring 2012 is the Cat’s Meow
Look Book

Opening Ceremony Spring 2012 is the Cat’s Meow

Just because Carol Lim and Humberto Leon are now busy turning Kenzo into the coolest brand around, it doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about the line that started it all or that their creative energy is spent. Their latest collection for Opening Ceremony is filled with as many fun, lust-worthy pieces as we’ve come to expect from the talented duo. Not that it’s predictable–we never know what Lim and Leon are going to do next–only that it won’t be boring and we’re going to want it all.

The inspiration for spring 2012 was summer music festivals in England, Argentina and the U.S. and we bet we’ll be seeing a lot of these clothes on the backs of stylish revelers at those very festivals next year. The ’90s definitely have a presence here via babydoll silhouettes, crop tops, metallic silver pants, plaid miniskirts, varsity jackets, lots of matching tops and bottoms and off-the-shoulder body con dresses.

However, our favorite part the collection, which should come as no surprise, is the cat faces. As we’ve learned, the best way to make something better is to cover it with cats. And that is what they’ve done here.

Here’s the Jersey Shore‘s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s Cringe-Worthy Look Book for his New Tux Line

Here’s the Jersey Shore‘s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s Cringe-Worthy Look Book for his New Tux Line

When we first heard that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was launching a tuxedo line, we feared the worst. I mean this is the man who Abercrombie & Fitch offered six figures to stop wearing their clothes. Well the look book has finally arrived (via MTV Style) and we have to say, it’s actually worse than we expected.

The tuxedo line for FLOW Formal Wear, is (of course) called The Situation, and the brand has definitely stayed true to its name with their latest Jersey-fied look book. Between Sitch’s creepy pouts and supremely awkward modeling poses–not to mention the general tackiness of the collection–we’re not sure what the skeeziest part of this look book is. Though we’re probably going to have to go with the ladies giving come-hither glances (and in one case, lying down on a bed) in the background–there’s a different one in almost every each shot (and sometimes multiple ladies).

Exclusive: Band of Outsiders Designer Ai Bihr and Her Hubby Are Adorably Goofy Modeling the Fall Collection

Last week we took in Scott Sternberg‘s lovely spring collection for Band of Outsiders. Of course, it’s not even fall yet–so we’re shifting focus back to the season at hand. To showcase their fall collection on their web shop, Band of Outsiders generally photographs the clothes by themselves, flat on the floor. But this season they decided to do something different and shot the fall collection on one of Band’s assistant designers, Ai Bihr (Scott’s the head designer and creative director, obvi), and her husband, photographer Cedric Bihr.

So why models, why now? “The polaroid campaigns are more for mood and telling a story about a day in the life of the clothes,” said Nicole Cari, the marketing director for Band of Outsiders. These images, she explained, show off the clothes more clearly. ” Ai and Cedric are models, but also very near and dear to the brand,” she added. “They also happen to embody many of the inspirations behind the fall collections.”

We chatted with Ai and Cedric about the whole process–how did it feel to model? And what was it like to model with your spouse? Their photos and answers made us fall in love with Band of Outsiders (and Ai and Cedric!) just a little bit more.

Check Out the Full Spring Look Book for Lauren Conrad’s Paper Crown Line

Lauren Conrad‘s Paper Crown line is chugging along on the fashion calendar, which means she’s just released the look book for her spring 2012 collection (she previously put out fall and holiday).

It’s her third collection for Paper Crown, and so far the look for the line is consistent–sweet wearable basics that you could picture LC wearing. This season’s got an adorable mod twist with Peter Pan collars on blouses and an especially charming pink striped day coat. There are lots of girly bow details than run throughout the collection and they’re particularly charming on the backs blouses that dip low in the back. I also liked the dresses with longer hemlines and baggy sweaters styled over floral skirts while I found the shorter solid-color dresses to be kind of a snooze.

What do you think of Conrad’s third collection for her own line? Would you wear Paper Crown?

Exclusive: Alexa Chung for Madewell, the Full Fall Look Book (Styled by Alexa Herself!)

Here it is: The full Alexa Chung for Madewell look book. And it is, as expected, stupendous. It doesn’t hurt that Alexa styled it herself.

Granted, we’re a bit biased because we’re pretty much obsessed with everything Alexa does…okay, I am obsessed with everything Alexa does, but that’s neither here nor there: this collection is truly great. From the sweet, white lace dress to the palm-print pajama pants to the leopard booties to the floral blouse–you get the picture, we want it all!

Chris Benz SS12: Andrej Pejic Channels Famous Transsexual Performer Candy Darling

Chris Benz SS12: Andrej Pejic Channels Famous Transsexual Performer Candy Darling

In a season where hypnotic, neon prints have become standard fare, only one designer can come out victorious. We’re putting our money on Chris Benz, because you can’t out-print the print master.

Benz’s designs for SS12 were, without a doubt, in some of the brightest and more daring colorways you’ll see this season, inspired by old Warhol-era Poloroid photos. Shades of pinks clashed in a multi-pattered suit look. A de-saturated camouflage vied for attention with a thin plaid in the same palette. Every color had its moment, from a ripe orange to an athletic gray. The structure of the clothing was just as diverse at its colors. Fitted cropped pants balanced out the flouncy dresses.

Peep Whitney Port’s African-Inspired Whitney Eve Fall 2011 Lookbook

Peep Whitney Port’s African-Inspired Whitney Eve Fall 2011 Lookbook

Whitney Port has just released images from the latest Whitney Eve lookbook on Celebuzz. The former reality-TV-star cum fashion designer–or her favorite personal assistant–took to the blog herself to announce the collection. Quoth she: “Hi tootsies, I am beyond thrilled to finally be able to present to you the Fall 2011 LookBook!!!”

The collection features a lot of colorful graphic prints, which Whitney says were “inspired by [her] trip to Africa last October,” although no doubt the influence of buzzy up-and-coming label Suno, whose collections are often inspired by traditional African textiles, can be seen. However, Whitney definitely puts her own spin on the trend, and the result is a colorful collection that’s more California surfer girl than African anything.
