Kate Middleton’s Dress To Go on Display?: Apparently Kate is considering letting the public see The Dress up close. Palace officials weren’t very helpful with the particulars of when or where, but stay tuned. {Independent}
Bulgari Helps “Save the Children” With a New Ring: Bulgari has already donated $9 million to the Save the Children organization, which supports educational initiatives. The posh jeweler has pledged even more, and you can check out our very own Leah wearing the new silver and ceramic ring alongside the ladies of Sea of Shoes, Refinery 29, and Styleite. $75 of the purchase price goes towards Save the Children. {Stylelist}
Riccardo Tisci’s Visionaire Costs $495: But it shows Lara Stone tied up to a burning cross and the issue comes in a wooden box. That’s totally worth it. {TheCut}
Leggings Can Make You Fat. Maybe: The theory of one Daily Mail physiotherapist goes like this: Because the leggings do the work of holding in your flabby parts, you don’t have to, thus leading to more flabby parts. And also, they’re so good at making you forget you have a muffin top, that you stop going to the gym to work off your muffin top. Sounds like perfectly legit science. {DailyMail}
The Next Most Hotly Anticipated Wedding Gown?: Did you forget that Jessica Simpson is engaged? We did, too. But she’s very excited about her upcoming nuptials and says of the dress, “I don’t know if I want the big boom, or the curvy thing, but it will be something beautiful.” No doubt. {MTV}
Mere minutes after Kate Middleton’s now-famous Sarah Burton for McQueen wedding gown was revealed, wedding dress “designers” scurried to see who could copy be inspired by it the quickest. “Simple” is one of the words that has been used most frequently to describe the gown, and though that hardly applies to the construction of the gown–lace workers washed their hands every 30 minutes and replaced their needles every three hours to ensure that the lace remained pure white–bridal companies and dress makers have nevertheless run with it to knock off the dress and get into the market ASAP.
Shala Moradi of Faviana, a bridal label frequently inspired by celebrities’ gowns, told E!, “It’s easier than what I was expecting, and we’re going to do it in a few days.” We’re sure Sarah Burton and her team of artisans would take some exception to that statement. Moradi told E! that a bride called before the royal wedding saying that no matter what the dress looked like, she wanted a copy. Everyone from David’s Bridal to Nordstrom is planning to carry the look-alike gowns, and stores started placing orders the day of the wedding.

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and wearer of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, went right back to her high street comfort zone as soon as the big day was over.
She was photographed on Saturday wearing a blue pleated Zara dress that retails for $89.90. And forget silk and hand-stitched lace–this dress is 100% polyester.
Flower girl Grace van Cutsem took her hands off her ears for the official royal wedding portraits of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are now officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Full disclosure: not all of us chose to pull all-nighters watching the royal nuptials. Why? This morning, we were invited to the Cultural Services of the French Embassy for their first “Breakfast at 972″ panel discussion. Their inaugural guest of honor was none other than Olivier Theyskens–Theory’s Artistic Director, former designer at Rochas and Nina Ricci, and a longtime Fashionista favorite.
After enjoying coffee and croissants in the main atrium of the gorgeous Fifth Avenue mansion, a small group of (insanely chic, primarily French) guests were ushered in for an intimate chat moderated by Charlotte Sarkozy and Timothée Verrecchia. Theyskens looked totally dapper in a slouchy white Bottega Veneta blazer and a pair of vintage, denim-like trousers he later told us he bought “because they reminded me of the pants the fish vendors at the Les Halles marketplace in Paris wear.” Even for a designer with a famously romantic aesthetic, it seems like simplicity is key.
Some of the morning’s key points:
After the dress, the royal wedding is really all about the hats. And fascinators.
Some opted for opulence while others stuck to tradition, and some looked as though they either over thought or put no thought into their head gear at all. Among the best were the devilishly elegant Zara Phillips, Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria, and Queen Sofia and Princess Letizia of Spain.
But there were some who buckled under the pressure, as you will see after the jump.
January Jones Has a Bun in the Oven: Though we can’t say who the father is, we’re hoping the kid turns out something like Sally Draper. {The Frisky}
Designers Weigh In on Kate’s Dress: Jason Wu thought it was stunning, Issaac Mizrahi, flattering, Prabal Gurung, appropriate, Lela Rose, didn’t like the lace and Valentino was reminded of Grace Kelly. {WWD subscription required}
Nicole Richie Has a Client at the Met Ball: Nicole Richie will be dressing top model Britt Maren for the Met Ball. We’re not sure what to do with this one just yet…but needless to say we’re excited to see if the former-reality-star can hack it. {Styleite}
Katy Perry’s Royal Manicure: The pop star tricked out her nails in honor of the royal wedding putting tiny pictures of Prince William on just about every nail (Kate nabbed one nail). {Racked}
Though we hate to say anyone stole the show from the bride, let’s be real: It was pretty hard to take your eyes off the Maid of Honor, little sister Pippa Middleton. Stepping out of the Rolls Royce for the first time, clad in a form-fitting Sarah Burton-designed white column dress with plunging neckline MOH Pippa looked, well, hot. I believe Leah’s exact words were “smoking.” In fact, a slew of news reports have already sprung up praising Pippa, with headlines ranging from tasteful, “Perfect Maid of Honor” to snarky, “How Kate Got Pippa-ed.” Twitter exploded with similar praise, albeit a little less eloquently spoken. Samples: @susiebubble: “It has to be said…. I’m a tad jels over the pertness of Pip Middleton’s arse….” @iamToddyTickles: “Pippa Middleton, best body at the wedding other than David Beckham.” or @RyanReport : “If you are honest and lead a good life and help other people, you might be reincarnated as Pippa Middleton’s nylons.”
In particular, as Miss Lau pointed out, one of Pippa’s, erm, assets has garnered a loyal fanbase: Her rear-end. Yep, there’s actually a whole Facebook group devoted to appreciating her arse (aptly called the “Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society”), that’s so far received just under 5,000 likes.
After reports surfaced yesterday that Kate Middleton would–gasp!–do her own makeup for the wedding, the bride’s beauty look was unsurprisingly understated and natural-looking. Apparently before the wedding Kate took lessons from makeup artist Arabella Preston–whose website states she is “particularly adept at natural bridal makeup”–and, according to People, the princess felt so comfortable with the techniques Preston showed her, that she opted to go DIY on the big day. It’s a risky move for any bride, let alone one that’s got millions, wait scratch that, billions of people tuned in to watch, but we have to say that Kate pulled it off. The softly smoky eye, slightly blushed cheeks and nude lips were not only beautiful, they were distinctly Kate–and that’s how every bride should look on her big day: like herself, of course.
