Sally Lyndley Needs Social Media and Fashion Video Interns!

Sally Lyndley, stylist and and Fashionista contributor, is building her fall semester team of interns in New York City. During the internship, they are committed to teaching the teams as much about the practice of styling and the fashion industry as possible. In return, they ask for teamwork from interns to help Sally prepare marketing and social media materials around shoots, consultancy projects and runway shows.

Social Media/PR Interns
Sally is looking for 2 PR/Social Media and Marketing Interns to help maintain her website and utilize online media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and fashion blogs. The intern would work closely with Sally and her full-time teams to get the word out about upcoming events, build new opportunities in the media and create a market for the Sally Lyndley brand. Sally will be doing innovative PR/marketing strategy with the chosen intern, so the experience will be invaluable.

Interning with Sally Lyndley means working with some of the most respected companies and clients in the fashion world. Sally Lyndley currently is the Editor at Large for Love Magazine and a regular contributing fashion editor to V Magazine, among others.

The knowledge interns gain working with Sally and her team is not taught in any school, hence the reason schools insist on internships to get real-world experience.

Sally’s purpose for working with interns is to better set them up to move forward in their own fashion careers, whether it be a recommendation to a magazine or PR/Creative agency, in exchange for the valuable teamwork interns can provide.

On My Way

Today is my last day at Fashionista. After 20 crazy, amazing, exhausting months, it’s time to move on. (I’m joining Lucky as the executive digital editor.)

I can’t even begin to explain how important this job has been to me. Not only have I met many of fashion’s smartest, most creative, and kindest, I’ve also learned a ton about the business, about journalism, about blogging, and about myself. Including:

Sally’s Styling Seminary: Show Process Part 4–The Show

Stylist Sally Lyndley has put together an amazing guide to producing a runway show. See her first three installments–Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3–before reading this.

By the time the show comes around, I begin to feel like it’s time to let the chips fall as they may. All of the hard work of the designer and team, producers, casting director, publicist and stylist has finally come together. Months of preparation lead up to a 12-minute show. I put on my game face and one of my favorite outlandish (but comfortable) outfits and head to the show.

Fashion News Roundup: Fashion News Roundup: Lindsay Lohan Covers Italian Vanity Fair, Brazilian Vogue Manages to Make Gisele Look Wonky and What Kate Middleton Should Wear in LA

Lindsay Lohan’s on Italian Vanity Fair: Lindsay Lohan’s first post-house arrest magazine cover is out and it’s the latest issue of Italian Vanity Fair, which hit newstands today. Lohan is also rumored to cover September’s American Vanity Fair, so we guess Conde Nast has no problem putting the same girl on the covers of international versions of the same magazine two months in a row. {Vanity Fair Italy}

More Behind-the-Scenes With the Olsens and Sally Lyndley: In the second behind the scenes video for Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Stylemint photo shoot, the twins discuss why they chose model Tati Cotliar, photographer Terry Richardson and stylist Sally Lyndley, who also talks about her inspiration for the shoot. {Stylelist}

Teenagers are buying couture: It’s easy to forget that some people attend couture shows with the intention of actually buying things. As the couture business continues to change and evolve, so are its customers. Young girls and royals from the middle and far east have become typical couture clients. {Telegraph UK}

Trendspotting: Marc Jacobs Loves His PJs

Marc Jacobs showed his resort collections for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and Marc by Marc Jacobs and picked up his CFDA lifetime achievement award this past week.

While Jacobs is obviously the creative force behind all three labels–he can’t do it all. He delegates the work to his dedicated design teams at each house. Julie De Libran collaborated with Sofia Coppola at Louis Vuitton, Junhee Kim and her amazing team worked hard at Marc by Marc (styled by contributor Sally Lyndley), and Marc himself and the Marc Jacobs team labored at Marc Jacobs proper. Yet these three different design teams all showed matching print pajama looks in the same season.

Fashionista 50: The Most Influential People in New York Fashion

Fashionista 50: The Most Influential People in New York Fashion

How do you measure influence?

Is it through website hits? Or sales? Through ad dollars? Or the number of mass retailers who’ve knocked off your work?

The answer is all of the above and none of the above. Influence is an intangible thing that just happens when you know your craft and you work hard at it.

To determine who belongs in the Fashionista 50–our list of the most influential people working in New York fashion–we used our own knowledge of the industry, combined with advice from industry sources. We also considered each candidate’s consumer reach–through sales, media, etc.

To be considered, candidates had to live and work in New York for most of the year.

What’s Fashionista’s definition of influential? It describes people who are shaping the direction of the New York fashion industry, both aesthetically and in terms of how the business works.

You’ll find the entire Fashionista 50 list after the jump. Click on the person’s name to read a full bio. And if you really want to click through the whole slideshow, you can do so here.
