Could Eyelash Jewelry Be the Next Nail Art?

Could Eyelash Jewelry Be the Next Nail Art?

Have you ever gotten up in the morning, looked at yourself in the mirror, and thought to yourself, “Man, I would be a helluvah lot cooler if I had some tiny baby farm animals–or maybe some miniature cupcakes–protruding from my eyelids”? Of course you have. We’ve all been there. And now finally there’s a solution: Eyelash jewelry, by way of Etsy seller Natalie Russo.

We caught up with Russo to chat about why she started making eyelash jewelry, where she wears them (on the street, or even in a hot tub!), and why she thinks eyelash jewelry could be the new nail art.

The Top 5 Street Style Trends from the Men’s Shows and How To Steal Them

The traveling menswear circus kicked off last week in London for the city’s inaugural men’s fashion week, moved to Florence for prestigious menswear tradeshow Pitti Uomo, then on to Milan, and is currently wrapping up in Paris. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from covering Pitti Uomo and perusing Tommy Ton’s street style shots for GQ during the men’s shows, it’s that the boys love to preen and peacock outside the show venues just as much as the girls.

But what we like about taking in men’s street style is that there seems to be more of an emphasis on styling rather than the “it-items” we see proudly paraded around during the womenswear shows. It’s a cuff rolled just-so with crazy colored socks showing underneath. Or a double-breasted blazer tailored to perfection with gloves hanging out of the breast pocket. Or sneakers and a Supreme hat worn with a more tailored look. More often than not, we get styling tips for ourselves.

Editor’s Pick: Cheryl’s Super Shiny Metallic Nail Polish

I know it’s already January and I should be obsessing about the new spring nail polish colors which are starting to come out, but I’m still stuck back in last summer.

This Essie polish–”No Place Like Chrome”–is from the summer 2012 Mirror Metallic collection, and I still love it. To the point that I used up my entire sample bottle and bought another one.

Jason Wu Gives Us a First Look at His Film for New Line Miss Wu

Ever since we heard the news that Jason Wu was designing a contemporary line, Miss Wu, we’ve been counting down the days until the collection hits stores.

While we still have to wait until January to get our hands on the New Wave-inspired goodies, Wu is giving us an exclusive first look at what’s to come. The designer worked with director Todd Cole to create a mini-film, starring Miss Wu face Meghan Collison–and we have the exclusive teaser clip below.

We also managed to snag a few minutes with the crazy-busy Wu (who also happens to have the flu :( ) to chat about what inspired him when creating the video, where he hopes the collection will go next and why he’s not the serious guy everyone seems to think he is. Read on.

It’s a Nail Art Miracle! Rabbi Launches Hanukkah Nail Decals

Last November we were introduced to the now 26-year-old Rabbi Yael Buechler, who made headlines for her (yeah, we’ll make this joke again) unorthodox way of teaching the Torah to her students. In a program called “Midrash Manicures,” she has her students come up with nail art to illustrate their understanding of certain stories and teachings. It’s been a runaway success at the Jewish day school where she teaches in suburban New York, and she’s since expanded: She is now selling Hanukkah-themed nail art decals for those of us who may find drawing a menorah on our pinkie a bit challenging.

Killer Style: How to Dress Like A Hitchcock Heroine

Hitchcock, the Oscar-vehicle starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitch and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, hit select theaters this past weekend. There hasn’t been much fashion buzz about the film aside from Scarlett Johansson’s Psycho-themed V cover, which focused more on her scream than her clothes (as well it should have), but we’ve always had a soft-spot for the fashion in Hitchcock’s films.
