Yep, that happened.
Jennifer Lawrence, no stranger to awkward awards show stair moments, fell on her way to accept her Oscar for best actress. That’s probably every woman’s ultimate fear in that kind of situation, right? But Lawrence handled it with such charm and humility her fall made everyone fall that much more in love with her (not to mention she fell beautifully–I mean, look at that photo!). “You guys are just standing up ’cause you feel bad that I fell and that’s really embarrassing but thank you,” she said when she finally made it to the podium.
So, what happened exactly?
Being the wife of a Barneys New York executive certainly has its perks–like, say, snagging your well-connected husband’s ‘plus one’ invite to industry insider events that most people only dream of attending.
Sharon Socol–wife of Howard Socol, who served as Barneys’s CEO from 2001 to 2008–used that exclusive access to her advantage and then some. Toting a 35mm loaded with black and white film, Socol, an avid photographer since age seven, snapped behind-the-scenes photos of fashion shows, parties, and some of the industry’s most legendary characters.
Recently, she compiled those photos into a book titled Plus One: An Outsider’s Photographic Journey Into the World of Fashion–the release of which garnered a crowd of fashion’s elite last night on Barneys’s 9th floor.
Marc Jacobs usually prefers a kilt or a sheer lacy dress for events, but he switched it up this season by wearing PJs for his runway finale walks. This did not go unnoticed by Vogue‘s Andre Leon Talley, himself a proponent of comfortable luxury.
A discussion between Talley and Jacobs on the awesomeness of pajamas follows which is… awesome.
You’ve seen all the amazing collections from New York fashion week, but what about what happens after the models and editors and bloggers go home? Welp, here’s the thing: They don’t go home. They PARTY.
Karen Walker’s new eyewear look book features Advanced Style ladies Ilona Royce Smithkin, Linda Rodin, Joyce Carpati, and Lyn Dell, and it’s pretty much the best campaign ever.
We sat down with Royce Smithkin and Rodin, who sat front row at Walker’s show yesterday, to get the scoop on how they became models, and what they thought of Walker’s latest collection.
This is absolutely the best gift we could have been given at the tail end of a long New York Fashion Week.
Snoop Lion on getting French tips: “It’s about being spooned and groomed, dipped and whipped, suited and booted, gooted and looted, scuttered and buttered.”

Peter: Snowstorms are so in right now, oh my god they’re so chic.
Harry: They’re hot.
More of this, this way…
Yep, Tavi Gevinson interviewed Lena Dunham for Garage, which makes so much sense. Click through to find out which Girls character Dunham would kill off if she had to.
Sometimes it can feel like there’s no group more jaded than the fashion pack. But when you turn Pier 57 into an indoor carnival, complete with rides, games, and food trucks–like they did last night for the Prabal Gurung for Target launch party–well, it’s pretty hard to feign boredom.
Seriously, guys, is the line in the shitter or what?
Beyoncé put a new designer on the map last night.
For her Super Bowl halftime spectacular, she and everyone else on stage wore costumes by New York-based designer Rubin Singer–not Givenchy, not Mugler, but 34-year-old Rubin Singer, whose eponymous line is just six years old. Cathy Horyn’s story in the New York Times, breaking the news that Singer had designed Beyoncé’s costumes for the Super Bowl was headlined, “Hey, Beyoncé, It’s Your Look, but Maybe His Moment.” Based on the buzz Singer is getting today (his publicist tells us the phone has been ringing off the hook and there’s an increased interest in Singer’s fall/winter 2013 presentation next week), we’d say it’s definitely his moment.
We hopped on the phone with Singer just before he left New Orleans less than an hour ago. He told us how he’s feeling, how he kept it all a secret, and what he hopes to do with the exposure.
