All That Glitters Is… Rose Gold
There’s no metal that’s more trendy than rose gold right now. We’ve been seeing it everywhere, from jewelry to handbag accents and even shoes. Now it’s invading makeup bags everywhere.

If your head’s still spinning from all the nonstop fashion action at Lincoln Center, Milk Studios, and points further afield (hi, Cunard Building!), flash back with Report Card through a digest of critics’ picks for the 13 top shows. Why 13? threeASFOUR did a bonkers show as one of the last of the week inspired by “ophiuchus,” the supposed 13th Zodaic sign, and also it just seemed like an apt number.
Peanut butter and jelly, Jay-Z and Beyonce, music and fashion–some things just go together perfectly. The right soundtrack can elevate a show from ‘meh’ to ‘Hell yes!’ in just a few short beats. We picked 15 that we think nailed it.
Fashion week came, and brought a feisty lil’ friend named Nemo along for the ride–forcing us to consider forgoing, “Well, doesn’t she look chic!” for, “Well, doesn’t she look warm?!” The runways begged to differ, offering up endless new ways to bundle-up beautifully for fall 2013. Check out our top ten trend takeaways from the fashion week that weathered the storm in style.
Yesterday was a day of beautiful, impeccable hair and makeup. Proenza Schouler‘s girl was a bit dirty and downtown (as she usually is), Marchesa’s was regal (ditto), and Anna Sui’s was, well, you’ll just have to see for yourself!

Clearly skate punks are having their fashion moment, first at Rodarte and now at Jeremy Scott. As Cara Delevingne opened the show with black Joan Jett wannabe hair, it was obvious Jeremy Scott’s muse this season was a badass. The clothes were signature styles we’ve come to expect from Scott: cone bras, too-short cocktail dresses, Read more →
The last two days have been pretty colorful backstage. From Chloe Norgaard’s neon hair and tons of statement lips everywhere, it’s been pretty fun to look at. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of wearable inspiration too, in the form of Kate Moss hair and dewy skin.

When almost every designer seems to be referencing Céline and Balenciaga, it’s nice that you can always count on Kate and Laura Mulleavy to do something completely different for Rodarte. These sisters truly march to the beat of their own drum. That means I don’t always “get it”–like their spring 2012 Van Gogh “Starry Night collection” or some of this season’s sheer ruffled dresses that just seemed plain impractical. But I appreciate that they’re doing their own thing.
No boring gray suits here–or at least not amongst the most buzzed about collections on Tuesday, when minimalist titan Narciso Rodriguez gave a masterclass in exuberant pops of color. The Mulleavy sisters, meanwhile, gave their models the hautest tramp stamps ever (with a little help from Scott Campbell) and Oscar de la Renta had his Read more →
The light at the end of the tunnel is near as we power through day seven of New York Fashion Week. Or maybe we’re just still thinking about the fluorescent lights at Rodarte’s show this afternoon?
Either way, fashion week is almost over, so we’ve been snap-happy trying to take in all of its goodness before it’s too late.
Here’s what we saw today.
