What the Students Say:

"Parsons allows you to delve into whatever aspect of fashion design interests you (textiles, accessories, womenswear, childrenswear, menswear, etc.). If you are proactive there are amazing opportunities offered in the form of talks, competitions, and networking opportunities. Parsons is tough. It is a lot of work. You will not sleep much — but you will learn more than you thought possible. An exhausting but rewarding education that prepares you for the fashion industry. A truly unparalleled fashion education with access to amazing liberal arts courses at Eugene Lang (part of the New School). If you can afford Parsons and really love fashion design there is no better place to go in the U.S."

"The school is good because teachers push you to do a lot in a semester. Work load is massive and teachers are demanding and hard on your grades. Not easy getting straight As."

"If you want to get the best out of your education, you need to pick the right professors. Some students only attend to get A's and therefore pick easy teachers and learn nothing. Challenge yourself and you'll get the most out of your expensive tuition here."

"What it lacks in the social norms of other colleges, it makes up for with its insurmountable professors, academics, and opportunities. At Parsons, you learn about way more than just how to create clothes. You are given a foundation which allows you to understand and appreciate garments for what they truly are: art."

"Make sure you have a clear objective when applying, it will help you during your time in the program."

"Really like my school. However, I feel a disconnect with the professors. Not very personal."

"Best for name and internship opportunities."

The Bottom Line: Parsons is a fashion design powerhouse, and the school has turned out tons of marquee talent. Its New York City location is a major draw as well: students are able to not only take internships during the summers, but during semesters, too. Some will even intern with one brand for two or three years. What’s more, the school has partnered with many retailers and corporations (like LVMH) with the aim of getting student work seen and critiqued. No other university in the U.S. has as much access.
