Derek Blasberg On His New Opening Ceremony Stationery Line and the ‘Dos and Don’ts’ of Letter Writing

The fashion editor and best-selling author of Classy teamed up with Opening Ceremony to create a new stationery line, aptly called the Handwritten Letter Helper, which launched on the retailer’s website yesterday.

We caught up with Blasberg to chat about how this collaboration came about, where he hopes it’s going, and what he thinks are the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ of written correspondence. Read on.

A First Look at Stefano Pilati for Agnona? [Updated]

In September, it was announced that, following his departure from YSL, Stefano Pilati would join Ermenegildo Zegna as head of design and as creative director of Zegna’s womenswear counterpart, Agnona.

We haven’t seen or heard anything since, until now. Agnona feted the opening of a new store in Miami yesterday and while we’re pretty sure Pilati wasn’t there, one of his designs apparently was.

Demi Moore, Martha Stewart and the Brant Brothers Get Sandy at Chanel’s Art Basel Bash

The tented setting at last night’s Chanel Art Basel party gave the whole evening a wedding vibe (albeit a very fashionable one)–as did the evening’s soundtrack, which tended towards songs like “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Satisfaction,” and “Shout,” and packed the dance floor. Adriana Lima was there, looking as gorgeous as if she’d just stepped off the Victoria’s Secret runway. So was Naomi Campbell, and Martha Stewart, and Demi Moore–who looked like she was having a really good time getting cozy with Lenny Kravitz and grooving in her seat in the VIP section. At some point she even found a cat to cuddle, which would obviously enhance anyone’s night.

How to Fete Without the Fat: A Consumer’s Guide to Fashion Party Foods

Ah, fashion party food. Anyone who’s ever been to a fashion event, or any fancy holiday party for that matter, knows what we’re talking about here: The bounds of teensy-tiny, too-adorable-to-not-consume h’ors doeuvres that always seem to be hovering just an arm’s length away. Maybe you came right from work and haven’t had time to eat a proper dinner. Maybe that model-slash-cater waiter carrying the deviled quail eggs has been giving you the eyes since you first walked in (or… hasn’t he?). Whatever the reason, there you are. There they are. You have one choice: To eat, or not to eat. So what’ll it be?

Monique Lhuillier Talks Celebrity Brides and Red Carpet Dressing at the Opening of Her Very First Flagship Store

After 16 years in the biz, Monique Lhuillier opened her first New York flagship on 71st and Madison last night. The designer referred to the boutique as a ‘jewel box’ to highlight her designs, and the gorgeous Waterford chandeliers and grey suede walls certainly did just that. Housed in a 19th century townhouse, the 3000 square foot, two story space actually feels quite intimate thanks to small rooms and nooks throughout.

We caught a quiet moment with Lhuillier, who juggles being a mother and wife with her super successful bridal and mainline collections. And she looks utterly glamorous while she does it.

Grace Coddington Thinks All Young Designers Could Stand to Have ‘A Few Things Going Wrong in Their Life’

Until we get our hands on Grace Coddington’s new memoir (Leah’s currently reading it), we’ll settle for poring over the press surrounding the book, for which she says she was “media trained,” but still lets out some good stuff.

She spoke to the New York Times and the Telegraph about the book, her cats, Anna Wintour, her legion of adoring fans post- The September Issue, her friend Nicolas Ghesquiere, who should play her in a movie and why young designers need to have “a few things going wrong in their life.” Read on to obsess over her with us:
