Padma Lakshmi, Alice Temperley

On Wednesday night, I set foot in one of the most jealousy-inducing Manhattan lofts ever for an intimate soirée to celebrate the launch of Alice Temperley’s book True British: Alice Temperley (Rizzoli New York, 2011) and the 10 year anniversary of her label, Temperley London. Alice and friends/well-wishers like Padma Lakshmi, Derek Blasberg and Hamish Bowles were in attendance.

While a video of a hand flipping the pages of Alice’s book was projected onto a screen, we got a chance to chat with the designer about new projects and Pippa Middleton, who, as you might remember, attended only one show during London Fashion Week and that was Temperley. Even though we knew Pippa was a fan of the brand, we figured getting her to attend only your show must have taken some sort of PR magic. In fact, it was the easiest thing in the world.

Hailee Steinfeld And Tavi Gevinson Ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad At Disneyland

We saw a friendship blossom between actress Haillee Steinfeld and blogger/editor Tavi Gevinson back in July when they both attended the launch party for Miu Miu’s “noir” sunglasses in LA–they were joined at the hip. Since then, they’ve talked a lot about how much they like each other. And yesterday they reunited at Disneyland! We’ll ignore the fact that the 14 and 15 year olds appear to be skipping school and instead talk about how much fun they’re having and how cute it is!

Last night Versace and H&M pulled out all the stops–and we mean all of them–to put on a runway show and party to celebrate their collaboration, which hits stores on November 19. Pier 57 was transformed into “Versace Hall” complete with a mirror-walled cocktail lounge (made to resemble Versace’s show space in Milan) and a wood paneled runway in a pattern that seemed to mimic Versace’s Greek fret motif (and also ensured everyone got a front row seat).

Everyone except Anna Wintour was there (and maybe she was and we just didn’t see her?): performers Prince and Nicki Minaj (wearing an enormous green wig and sequined Versace for H&M) sat to watch the show; celebs, all dressed in h-to-t Versace for H&M, included Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba, Chace Crawford, Chloe Moretz, Jennifer Hudson and Alan Cumming; there were designers aplenty from Joseph Altuzarra to Alexander Wang to Christopher Kane; in keeping with the collection’s ’90s theme, ’90s supermodels Linda Evangelista and Helena Christensen were there; and there were too many stylists and editors and socialites to count.

“It looks good,” Minaj told us about the collection as she walked the red carpet. “All the stuff they brought to my room today I was like, ‘I’m keeping that!’ Minaj confessed that she fell in her platform Versaces during the filming for her Superbass video but she said, “I’m not taking them off, fashion is pain, and I’m keeping them on, and Superbass went on to be such a big song, so maybe Versace’s good luck.”

The sisters Fanning continue to grow their fashion world presence with back-to-back shoots by Terry Richardson, which the photog posted on his blog yesterday and today. As is custom for those invited into Richardson’s studio, both teenaged blonde sisters slapped on Terry’s specs and gave two thumbs up in an attempt to resemble the middle-aged photog.

Ever wonder what Diane von Furstenberg‘s personal wrap dress closet looks like? Now we finally get to see it. The designer has teamed up with French documentary filmmaker Loïc Prigent for a 12-episode web series called “Zero Filter.” Which of course refers to DvF’s penchant for saying exactly what’s on her mind. Halloween might be long gone, but Tuesday night’s fete for the launch of Pucci’s new boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue showed proved fashion folks are not tired of dress up. Emilio Pucci creative director Peter Dundas co-hosted the event with Harper’s Bazaar editor in chief Glenda Bailey.

Alexa Chung manned the DJ booth guests mingled with models (Coco Rocha, Anja Rubik and Jacquelyn Jablonski amongst them) all decked out in Dundas’ gypsy-inspired Spring 2012 collection for Pucci. Which is fitting because just the night before a good chunk of the party-goers, Dundas included, had dressed up gypsy for Anja’s themed Halloween party.

“Anja’s party last night was gypsy themed, so I went as a gypsy,” Dundas told us of his Halloween costume. “I didn’t bring anything and I was so busy I really didn’t want to think about it so in the end I went to St. Marks and let me tell you, you can find everything at St. Marks within half an hour! And that’s exactly what I did.” Note to self: Hit up St. Marks for Peter Dundas-approved gypsy fashion–apparently gypsy is very in this season.

Barneys threw quite the bash last night to fete Christian Louboutin and his new book, the eponymously titled Christian Louboutin, which celebrates his 20 years in the business. The guests, almost without exception wearing the distinctive red-soled stunners, included Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Blake Lively, Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keyes, and Calvin Klein.

We had a chance to catch up with the man himself, and while he understandably didn’t want to discuss his increasingly contentious lawsuit with YSL, he was more than happy to talk about how women wear shoes, that comment about the connection between orgasms and shoes, and whether or not heels are phallic:

The past four days have been a non-stop party for a lot of fashion people here in New York. And those Halloween parties have been well-documented. The Tribeca Grand’s Overlook Hotel party, the Boom Boom Room’s fete and last night’s V party hosted by Terry Richardson drew the most fashion-heavy crowds and, as we all know, fashion people like to dress up. They also seem to like obscure references–many of their costumes were tough to identify, but still fun to look at. So, from Alexa Chung to Joan Smalls to Marc Jacobs, here are a bunch of fashion people in their Halloween best!

Last night, despite a cold, blustery rainstorm, the fashion industry elite put on their black-tie best and headed down to Cipriani Wall Street for Fashion Group International’s Annual Night of Stars Gala. The event is known for it’s glittery mix of designers, retail execs, editors and celebrities, and this year’s event was no exception. Elle’s Kate Lanphear (in an incredible YSL cape) told us, “This is one of my favorite events of the year. I’m a big fashion nerd, and I always try to come if I’m in town.” Spotted in the glamorous crowd were fashion luminaries like Proenza’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey, Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, model Lindsey Wixson, and style legend Lee Radziwill, who accompanied Star Honoree designer Giambattista Valli.

Many designers in attendance were excited to support Corporate Leadership Award winner Andrew Rosen, the President of Theory and an investor in young fashion brands. Stacey Bendet Eisner, founder and designer of Alice and Olivia, a company that Rosen has invested in and mentored, said, “I worship him. I talk to him every morning at 6am, or around that time. He’s the most amazing person in this industry; he’s the Godfather.” Misha Nonoo of Nonoo NY added, “Andrew Rosen is one of the most exciting people in fashion at the moment. He recognizes talent at a seedling level.”

As one of fashion’s most prolific and influential stylists, collaborators and editors, Katie Grand has gotten some of the recognition she deserves in a new Wall Street Journal profile, in which she is said to be at the top of the fashion pyramid. It’s true. Her ability to take risks and make something look fresh, while knowing what will have mass appeal, has made brands like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Topshop and many others, what they are today. She’s also the editor-in-chief of LOVE, which launched in 2009 and has quickly become one of our own fashion bibles.

Katie‘s at the top of her game and doesn’t do anything she doesn’t want to (and gets paid pretty well despite that). From how much money she makes to celebrities who were mean to her, click through for six of the most interesting new things we learned about this fashion visionary.

Last night, we stopped by Macy’s Herald Square to celebrate the launch of Giambattista Valli for Macy’s, the latest in the department store’s string of high-profile designer collaborations. Yes, the ultra-feminine, cocktail dress-filled collection is now available to buy in stores and online.

The launch event in Macy’s Impulse section was quite a scene. It began with a brief speech from Macy’s President and CEO Terry Lundgren followed by a photo op with Giambattista himself, flanked by Giambattista for Macy’s-clad models Jessica Stam, Chanel Iman and Hanaa Ben Abdesslem. All of this was surrounded by curious cluster of Macy’s shoppers wondering what was going on.

It’s been a big year for Giambattista, having launched this Macy’s collab as well as his first ever couture collection within a few months of each other.

We’ll admit it. We kind of have a huge crush on Rachel Zoe’s newest employee and breakout star of her reality show, Jeremiah Brent. In the beginning, Jeremiah, or ‘Miah, garnered obvious comparisons to Rachel Zoe’s former employee Brad Goreski, who he was technically replacing. We even wondered if Rachel only hired him because he was super hot and made for good television and when he got fired, many criticized Rachel and Rodger for using him to get their house decorated on the cheap.

But as season four went on, ‘Miah held his own by (literally) proving himself over and over again as one of Rachel’s most dedicated and hard-working employees ever, even after he was fired. He also happens to straddle that line between hot and adorable so perfectly that it sometimes distracted us from everything else going on in the show.
