See Carine Roitfeld and Lots of Fashion People Dressed as Vampires (Plus Karlie Kloss Nearly Nude Again) at Irreverent Launch Party

Carine Roitfeld threw a launch party for her new book Irreverent in Paris last night. The theme was bal des vampires, meaning it was basically this season’s answer to last year’s French Vogue masquerade ball.

The fashion crowd went with the theme–some full on (Olivier Theyskens), some only slightly more vampiric than usual (Julia Restoin Roitfeld), some just dressed in black (Kanye West) and one guest wore a giant red Giles Deacon X Stephen Jones swan on her head (guess who!). It’s hard to tell whether or not Karl Lagerfeld dressed up and Karlie Kloss let us know that her recent penchant for near-nudity is not relegated to magazines and runways. She wore a risqué black Anthony Vaccarello gown (which she also wore on the runway) that revealed most of her torso and had a slit that went all the way to the hip.

If anything, this was a pretty awesome party idea–and just in time for Halloween. Who do you think did vampire chic best?

Watch Harmony Korine’s Disturbing New Fashion Film For Proenza Schouler, Plus Party Pix of Olivier Zahm, Lea Seydoux and More From the Premiere

PARIS–Last night at soon-to-be It-club Silencio (think Gold Bar plus Kenmare), Proenza Schouler‘s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez along with POP magazine threw a party to celebrate the release of their new Harmony Korine-directed fashion film, Snowballs. The title is entirely misleading because not only is there nothing snowy or bally about this film, but snowballs also connote a sort of childhood cuteness (a snowball fight! fun!) and this film is not that. It’s disturbing and most of the posh fashion-y crowd (which included both Traina sisters and Lauren Santo Domingo) left the screening room feeling a bit unnerved and gripping their champagne flutes a little tighter. The creepy baby voices singing, the models dressed up like Native Americans with distorted faces and feet shod in trash bags, the not-so-sober rotund shirtless Southern preacher type character in a trailer, the part where the shirtless fat Southern guy and the two characters dressed up as Native Americans all dance together in a circle–it’s provocative to say the least.

Jack McCollough even acknowledged to WWD that the film is “not like a sales vehicle. It’s a sales deterrent if anything.” But that’s precisely why it’s awesome.

This Week’s Parties: Alexa Chung at Mulberry, Karen Elson Sings and Designs Shoes and Mischa Barton Looks Really Good

This week’s party highlights were for two very different brands, but both drew a similarly fabulous crowd (especially stylish Brits) and memorable music performances. Hayley danced the night away and drank margs with Alexa Chung Monday, while Dhani took in an amazing performance by Karen Elson and chatted with Mischa Barton Tuesday. Read on for deets and pics!

On Monday, Mulberry celebrated their 40th birthday in only the way that the quirky-cool English brand could pull off: With an all-out rager atop the Skylight Studios and all of fashion’s cool crowd in attendance.

Surface to Air Party: Ziggy from The Wire Hits the Fashion Week Scene

As the night wore on (and a monsoon raged outside), Surface to Air revelers made their way from the store’s new flagship to the late-90s staple B Bar on Bowery. By the time we got there, we were soaked to the bone, but somehow all the lovelies and trendsters miraculously managed to stay fresh and dry through their transit. Another 90s reference of the night–lots of guys toting bulky backpacks, which got to be kind of a bitch navigation-wise as the bar got crowded.

We spotted Surface to Air co-founder Jérémie Rozan schmoozing with his party people, plus DJ/fashion girl Mia Moretti, Genevieve Jones, and Emily Weiss (who did a drive-by for some champers and photo ops), editor of the Fashionista-awarded “Best Fashion-y Beauty Blog” Into the Gloss. Kid Cudi himself stopped by later, along with Chromeo, who performed for the pumped up crowd.

On our way out, to our pleasant surprise, we bumped into James “PJ” Ransone. Who, you ask? Well, hipster subway commuters may recognize as the denim-clad guy in those Opening Ceremony x Levi’s ads, but fans of The Wire know him as tragic, trigger-happy longshoreman Ziggy Sobotka.

Last Night’s Party: Rebecca Taylor Opens Meatpacking District Digs, Plans to Launch a Kids Collection

Snowflakes and slushy streets didn’t put a damper on festivities as Rebecca Taylor welcomed party goers to her newest boutique on Wednesday night. While the plummeting temperatures called for snow boots and parkas, Taylor fans opted to don their favorite spring looks at the designer’s Meatpacking District outpost. Selita Ebanks chose a polka dot skirt paired with a floral tank, 30 Rock‘s Katrina Bowden wore a floral jumper, and we even spotted a certain Gossip Girl in a floppy sunhat. (Tika Sumpter, to be exact.)

The space reflects Taylor’s flirty ensembles. From the ornate ceiling moldings to the cast-resin furniture complete with a touch of burnished gold, it’s easy to see that the designer played a big role bringing the store to fruition. “I’ve been 100% hands on with this project,” said Taylor as she took a break from greeting guests. “I’ve been here all day working on everything including the flower arrangements! I’m a little bit of a freak like that,” she admitted. Of course, she did have the help of APALondon, a design firm that has also worked with the likes of Stella McCartney and Adidas to create unique store layouts.

Last Night’s Party: Alex Wang, Love, Liberty Bash With Beth Ditto

LONDON–And best bash of LFW (so far, and yes, slight intoxication may tint our estimation) goes to the Love magazine for Alexander Wang party at Liberty.

Daisy Lowe was there, dancing up a storm in a Mark Fast crop top and pencil skirt. When Beth Ditto forgot the lyrics during her a capella version of “I Will Always Love You,” she called on none other than Alexa Chung to complete the phrase.

Last Night’s Party: Mulberry’s Takeover of Claridges Continues

LONDON–Mulberry left the enchanted countryside set from the show in place for its after-party at Claridges. Guests Kirsten Dunst and Clemence Poesy sipped organic cider and noshed on mini toad in the hole, while other attendees posed for snaps in Fantastic Mr. Fox animal masks. As for us? All about the dance floor, baby.

Last Night’s Parties: The Last Frontier, and Harley Turns 23

Thank goodness today marks the final day of New York Fashion Week, because we are in desperate need of some good old-fashioned zzz’s. Once yesterday evening’s shows wrapped, we headed down to Indochine to celebrate the sixth issue of The Last Magazine at the bar beneath the Lafayette Street eatery. The space was brimming with gorgeous faces–we spied former Last cover girl Anja Rubik among the revelers, as well as industry insiders like Matt Kays, Rumi Neely, and CA Creative’s Alexandra Weiss–and the Kanon Organic Vodka flowed freely. Zara Zachrisson and May Kwok were on DJ duty, and it quickly became clear that the space’s smoky back room housed the designated dance floor while the entryway lounge was strictly for rubbing shoulders with the genetically-blessed.

We finally made our way through the Marlboro haze–fresh copies of the glossy’s latest edition in hand–and up to midtown’s Lavo, where a slightly more dressed-down crowd fêted DJ duo Harley Viera-Newton and Cassie Coane’s 23rd birthdays.

Patricia Field has a Raunchy Ball (And Talks to Us About the Sex And The City Prequel Rumors)

Patricia Field, who is not known for subtlety in her styling or personal sartorial choices, threw a Disco Valentine’s Ball Friday night at Capitale in NYC. To get everyone in the mood for Valentine’s Day, she invited her fabulous friends to come in costume, preferably red.

Drag queens, lots of T&A, and a fair amount of Harajuku-esque dressing set the scene–this was not about tasteful fashion. Trojan was one of the sponsors, so you can only imagine what sort of debauchery was encouraged. The costume contest winners–for “Sexiest Couple,” “Sexiest Single,” and “Best Costume” were awarded trophies and a $4,000 shopping spree.

Patricia Field hired go-go dancers to entertain and get the crowd in the mood. She also dressed them–we spotted metallic snake skin bras, transparent harem pants, shiny pasties, and thongs–lots of thongs.

Fashion Week Parties: Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld Hosts A Graffiti Show and PETA Parties Instead of Protesting (For Now)

As darkness fell on the first day of New York Fashion Week, we headed west to check out some art courtesy of Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld’s curation, and show off our faux fur at PETA’s fashion week party.

The first stop was a warehouse on the desolate Washington Street where Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida were hosting RETNA: The Hallelujah World Tour. The open and dim space smelled of fresh paint (there were splatters of it on the floor) and graffiti artist RETNA’s canvases filled with abstract black and white symbols lined the walls. The crowd, sipping on what we’re pretty sure was straight vodka, was as eclectic as the art itself. Fashion folk like Eddie Borgo and proud mama Carine Roitfeld mingled with a young flock of skateboarders (boards in tow), older women in hulking fur coats, and disheveled yet chic Parisian-looking men.

Last Night’s Party: Kim Kardashian, Isaac Mizrahi and More Celebrate QVC’s Fashion Week Kick-off

QVC’s finest hit the red carpet Friday night during the shopping network’s Fashion Week kick-off party and live-streamed runway show, co-sponsored by Vogue. And by “QVC’s finest” we mean everyone from Isaac Mizrahi to Kim Kardashian to Lori Goldstein.

The ubiquitous Kardashian sisters (just Kourtney and Kim) were on hand, to support their K-Dash for QVC line. But Kim was still stuck on her spread for Harper’s Bazaar. “Elizabeth Taylor sent over one of her gowns and I was able to belt it and wear it for the shoot,” she gushed.

Isaac Mizrahi admitted he was exhausted before he went on-air to present his latest QVC designs. His secret to putting out a zillion Mizrahi collections?
