Entry: Style With No Meaning

I don't know if I would call her a style icon, but Katie does seem to be developing a style, which I guess would qualify her for "Most Improved." She's got kind of a classy and sophisticated look going on recently. And I have heard more than a couple of my friends coveting the Katie haircut. But I'm just a noob; what do I know?

I'm wearing my Chuck Taylors right now, at work. Somehow they work with my structured, but somewhat casual outfit. I actually sort of credit Fashionista for making me feel like I could fit them into my life a little more often.

I agree about athletic sneakers, though. I would not be caught dead in them unless I was actually in workout gear from head to toe. Why do they make those things so frigging ugly? Most of them are bright white, which just screams "NERD!"

I live in the suburbs, and I feel weird no matter where I go. I'm still trying to figure fashion out. I'm like a fashion feral child.

Saying you "can dance" is totally different from saying "I'm really good at dancing." Gloating in any form has always been unattractive and impolite.

Those nasty men's Adidas sandals. The black and white ones that have the wide flap going from one side to the other. I don't even know if they make them anymore.

I love the green sweater they have on Amy Adams in December's Vogue. It's not on the website in green though! I'll have to brave the holiday crowds to try to find it at my local store.

I agree that they have vastly improved. I stopped shopping there a few years ago when they started putting big plastic buttons on everything, but when I stopped in this fall, it felt like a whole new store. The greys and blacks were very nice. I got a very cute black jersey dress and some ballet flats. Now I just need to find that sweater!

How cool would it be if Fashionista partnered with Educating for Justice? These two people went to Indonesia to live the way sweatshop workers live, and it changed their lives.

She always has super-glowing skin. How does she do that?

I love the way they look, but I've never worn them. Might be something to experiment with!

Hell no. I don't think there is a less flattering garment out there (without pants, that is... I like your under-the-skirt idea). I remember a Madonna video a few years ago in which she wore a leotard, and it made her hips look really... um...mature. I can't think of another way to describe it. But if Madonna can't rock it successfully, I don't think I can even think about trying it.

Who cares? Do you always want to have your picture taken? The ominous tone of the bit about the editor's assistant, as if turning down her request for a photo is the equivalent to career suicide, is mean-spirited. Come on, girls.
