"You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room."

Growing up with a friend who positively erupted if anything of ours were the same - clothes, music style, hair - I've just been annoyed by those who get angry about those sorts of things.
Also, isn't fashion all about copying anyway? We buy clothes by places like H&M or Nordstrom or Urban, who sell clothes either inspired by someone or inspired by a major fashion line (unless you are famous or Anna Wintour or someone with loads of money). We see pieces on other people and maybe take aspects of their style and dress similarly.
Obviously, I am infuriated with people who get angry about owning the same clothes or whatever.

she's got quite big feet. or at least, the angle of some of the photos don't do her feet justice.

i'm 17 and though i looooooove louboutins, i know i'd have nothing to wear them with/to. also, who knows if your shoe size will change within the next few months/years? if i was purchasing a pair of louboutins i'd want ones that i'd have for years and years to come.
i'd suggest buying some marc by marc shoes, they're cute, well made, and really unique.

Craiglist. But MAKE SURE you go with a parent/adult because those ads can sometimes be sketchy.
Also if you have an art school near you, make posters saying that you're a model looking for a photographer. Art students are always looking for good models to add to their portfolios.

I hate Rachel's dress. Blake's is a little too short to be chic.
Leighton looks fab!

This is cool. Fashionista: do you have any ideas for the high school student who wants to do something with fashion in the future? I'd love to intern, but obviously that is definitely for college age+ and I want to be in the business, but not designing (so sewing classes aren't an option)...any other ideas for us youngin' s?
