It won't be a show about actually breaking into the magazine industry... it won't even matter what magazine it is.The show will surely be about the emotional journey, about becoming a whole person, a real person with flaws and blah, blah, blah. I'm so sick of Tyra and her goddamn jouneys! I can't stomach another meaningful show of hers. Please make it stop.

Entry: Would You Wear Printed Rain Boots?

No. I have a pair of Burberry riding boots (they're rubber) and those do just fine when its wet outside. Sometimes I see printed boots on other people and it does look a bit childish so I just stay away from that.

For myself. Even if I have no intention of leaving the house, I dress as if I am. Looking good autmatically makes me feel good.

i've only worn makeup to weddings. its lovely on other people, but it looks dreadful on me. as for my skin, its seems to have made all the difference. mostly, my skin is virtually flawless. i'm talking, maybe two pimples a year. now, i dunno if its genetics or lack of make-up or whatever, but hey...might be worth a try to see what happens?

Design housewares for sears? QVC? That was so deliciously true, so thank you for the slight bitchiness. Please keep it coming.

I wouldn't say I was surprised by this, but definitely tickled by it.
Oh, Justin Bobby, how I've missed you and your perfectly played nonchalance.
I want my hair to do that.

Question 8. I don't know where little LC is in her studies. She is taking extremely long to finish school, which is odd since her a major is really a cake walk. Its probably computerized flat sketching...otherwise it'd have to be computer grading, marketing, and cutting. But if she was that behind, she might as well just do a Heidi and drop out immediately.

Entry: Changes on the Runway

The intentions of the designers is obvious to me. I doubt that they are trying to make black models a novelty of sorts(although, I could see the happening), rather than really just trying to take steps toward diversity. And we all know diversity certainly doesn't mean just black models BUT, a grander statement is made if you use mostly black models since they've been shut out so often... and that seems to be the point.
ModestoT, if you think choosing models because of race and not talent is stupid, then you surely will be glad to changes on runways? Certainly, not all of the 'non-ethnic' girls stomping the runways are are full of talent. And who is to say the 'ethnic' model won't be the most talented? How will we know if we always go with the same thing without considering something else?
As for reverse racism... well, there is no such thing. Racism is racism, no matter what the package looks like. But if you didn't care about the racist tendencies in the fashion industry before, why cry about it now? Racism is supposed to be unacceptable, no matter who the recipient of it may be, right?
I think we're always looking for who is new and fresh. I don't think it would be so hard to consider that maybe that face won't always be the same hue with the same feautures. It's okay to look for beauty in other places. Whats so wrong witht that?

Outside of Nylon, I won't buy a magazine that has someone I deem uninteresting on the cover. Its just an automatic turn-off for me...
Also, I'm finding the recent fashionista criticsms increasingly strange. This blog is about an industry that is artistic, inspiring, negative, silly, vapid and a million other things. Aren't there bound to be posts that reflect all of that? Whats the big deal?

I know its Bush and nothing he does should be seen as remotely beneficial or it might topple our entire belief system, but really... its okay to recognize a good thing. Is it unimportant right now considering all thats going on? Sure. But it is by no means something negative, because it did need to happen at some point.

I don't see why adult people can't just say "Yes, anorexia is a problem, but I find it attractive" If you feel that way, then own it. But going into "yea, but what about obesity?" trivializes the whole situation and turns it into the eating disorder olympics. They're clearly both unhealthy.

That actually makes me feel a lot better about my first quarter at FIDM. I was terrible at everything! That was years ago, but it still bothers me. Glad I'm not the only one.
