I'm from LA and I don't get it either. Being a 30 year old, maybe it's youth appeal? Who knows.

Wow! This was really good. I really like Nina Garcia. She is poised, articulate and I she's Latina, as am I, so I give her a big ¡viva!

I would never dare wear a fitted belt with something that pleated. It gives automatic bulk.

I struggle with the line between costume and retro all the time. I was a die-hard rockabilly-Dita-Bettie girl for nearly 15 years. But as I entered my 30s, I felt a little costumey at times.

I think the key is fit, personality and appropriateness.

I have a few rules I follow:
If you wear vintage dresses, make sure you get them altered/tailored to fit you and don't be afraid to bring a neckline down or bring the hemline up.

If you decide to wear it, wear it with pride. No one else will look like you. that's a good thing. But make sure it fits who you are. You change. Your tastes change. Let your wardrobe change with you.

Bettie bangs ok for work? Sure! Dominatrix shoes? Probably not-nor would full retro make up and hair. Unless you work in a very creative field, tone down the retro look by keeping one retro detail.

And I am sooo jealous you dressed up like Bettie Paige for Halloween. Naughty girls!

It's kind of difficult to wrap your head around a store being influential. Shouldn't people be influential? Stores, department or otherwise, carry what is already a developing trend around the world.

My money is on Emily too, but I think Kenley is adorable and is close to my style so I'll be secretly rooting for her.

@Halie - too funny! I'd go for tulle, but chiffon is a close 2nd.

very casual, but a little to literal.

She strikes me as the girl that works so hard in the fashion field that she the last thing she wants to do is get all dolled up. I can totally understand that. People in fashion are sometimes some of the most understated folks I know.

@2:00 - it doesn't matter if that blog gets 1 post, they still posted it first and I'm not sure what the attitude is all about?!

I rather like the Fendi, but yeah, the F21 is very cheap looking.
