i have an intense appreciation for haute couture. it inspires me just as much as any painter, musician or actor would. couture is absolutely necessary. without it, fashion becomes less of an art form and more of a commodity. maybe with the current recession, designers are more inclined to create garments for distribution, but i think couture will prevail. it may not be as extravagant right now, but that will define the fashion for this era. just my opinion... hope this helps.
