i think most men would have hated to live in a time when men walked in heels. i feel this post is more about a trend in mens fashion where a lot of the new styles have been feminine. this is obviously a conspiracy perpetrated by the government to control us by making men and women more similar.

and they say the $$ doesnt buy anything these days. for $15 you could have 15 pair. over 2.5 years you would have to go through a pair every 2 months for the havaianas to be worth it. my suggestion (not that im necessarily doing this) buy 15 pairs, save 7 and donate 8 to people who dont have shoes.

the numbered comments do rock.
living in new york i havent really seen weakness in the economy but when i go to other parts of the east coast i hear how much tougher things are. i wonder how major cities and regions around the country are doing.

i have a suspicion the new york economy will weaken after bonus season this year. do not despair, we will overcome our current economic woes and be a much stronger nation in 2-4 years under the right leadership. in the meantime, try to cut unnecessary spending and help each other out when possible. a little morale boost goes a long way. and dont forget will power and hard work will get you where you want to be. people trying to make a quick buck come and go but those who are persistant and dont lose their integrity will succeed over time in any climate.

i live in ny and have lived in the US my whole life and im here to say people in this country complain too much (myself included but more so for things like the olympic scoring). sometimes you have to eat shit for a few years, sometimes more like 4-5. if you want to succeed and dont have the connections those are the breaks. otherwise, there is always mcdonalds, walmart, dominoes etc. do yourselves a favor now and toughen up.

the actual market value of the gold is $1.47 mill putting the labor value at about $1.4 mill.

while gold does have industrial uses it is viewed as a precious metal used primarily in jewelry. i dont see whats wrong with using gold to sculpt a beautiful woman.

Consumption has already decreased with gasoline demand dropping 4.3% yr on yr. If this trend continues, it would be the first annual drop since 1991. Also, less new trucks being sold and less flights being taken are resulting in lessened demand for other fuel based products. Of course consuming less fuel is better for the environment but consumption is mainly down because people have lost their jobs or have less disposable income.

The real question is, if the slumping economy prolongs or continues to worsen, will people take more drastic steps to limit consumption and will this change be permanent or will consumers relapse once the economy strengthens? And i'm not taking about a few instances in Boise, ID or Knoxville, TN i'm talking about a broad societal shift in consumer habits.

One last point, most green type goods or services cost more and will probably see their demand wane as consumers have less disposable income. Also, companies investment in green technology will decrease with less lending by banks and less demand by consumers.

the unemployment rate is 6.5% as was released last friday at 8:30 am est. 1.2 million people have lost jobs this year as there are over 10 million currently unemployed. people can spend money on whatever they want. is it gross to spend $400k on a new house in this emvironment if the price is 40% off its high? i dont think so so why would it be gross to buy diamonds if you like diamonds, have the money, and the price has fallen. let's talk about how uninformed fashionista commenters are on the economy.

well, seeing as how the NATIONAL median home price is closer to $210k, most of the country would be below $400k. i live in nyc and OF COURSE i know you cant get much for $400k. we all dont live in NYC though commenter 4 so you might want to get some perspective.

guest 8, the unemployment rate is a monthly statistic that is published by the bureau of labor statistics the first friday of every month at 8:30am eastern sharp. the unemployment rate represents the number of unemployed persons as a % of the labor force and is a highly anticipated economic number by financial professionals. Also released simultaneously is the monthly change in nonfarm payrolls which shows how many jobs were gained or lost for the prior month.

the last reported figures were unemployment rate of 6.5%, 240,000 jobs lost in the month of october, a total of 1.18 million jobs lost this year bringing the total number of unemployed to over 10 mill.

while these figures aren't enormous by historical standards, they are high from what we have come to expect. our economy seems to be worsening from week to week as news of more companies in severe financial trouble emerge but we need to keep in mind a few things. the US dollar is continuing to strengthen which is ultimately good for our economy. the price of "things" is going down which helps consumers with reduced purchasing power. we also have very productive workers and new leadership which, i feel, over time will lead us out of our current problems.

what happens if you sell something, take in the commission, leave the company, and the item is later returned? are they going to track you down at your next job and make you repay the commission?
