I think for me I love fashion without worshipping design houses. I hate the idea of being so caught up in labels that you lose personal style. I think it is less about who makes the item and more about how it looks, how it is styled, how it fits, how it flatters. The only copies that are truly gross to me are items the street vender bags that steal logos, designer names, exact prints, etc., like the Lanvin tee you showed before. But to use an inspired look from the runway and change it slightly make it affordable is kinda what fashion is all about, whether you get it from the Goodwill or Forever 21 or DIY.

Also, I don't think that people who wear knockoffs are trying to fool anyone, (if they are, that is sad). They went into a store and bought a shoe or a purse or whatever that they though was cute and wore the heck out of it. Buying a fake bag and lying to everyone about who made it is dishonest, but buying an inspired bag and being upfront about its cheapness and even who it copied, not so much.
PS. I have the Baker's Tributes and they do not look or feel cheap, The most comfortable platforms I own.

Is it possible for us as readers and commenters to leave a thoughtful and respectful post voicing our opinions without name-calling, insulting or getting unecessarily angry? This is not the first time or the last time the topic will come up on this blog, so can we have a mature discussion and disagree without being mean to the bloggers or each other?

I have the Alexander Wang Obama tank and it is soft and perfect and fabulous. I am just sad it is too cold to wear it right now.

I completely understand Jourdan's sentiments. Even as an adult, being the skinny black girl is not coveted. No one wanted to be “shaped like a white girl” (no offense). I have come to accept my small frame and lack of curves, but strange as it may sound, the waif was never the ideal in the black community.

I really don't think she was complaining as much as explaining a different cultural perspective. Remember she has only really been a supermodel for a couple years. I can only speak from my own experience, but size in the black community is viewed differently than it may have been in others. If you aren't a model or ballerina, super skinny is not an asset. Again not complaining, just sharing.

Why, oh why don't they sell the black, patent leather, high-heeled Docs that are paired with like every dress on the site???? Does anyone know a site that will ship them to the US? Everywhere I look they are only available in the UK. Tragic.

I know she isn't super famous (yet), but I loved Viola Davis' dress. She looked amazing. I also loved everything about Tilda Swinton, though I'm sure she will end up on some worst dressed lists for it. Not a fan of all the Mermaids and Pretty Princesses or the giant bows.

I thought most were really boring. Loved: Alek, Leighton, Ashley, Oluchi, Ivanka, and as surprised as I am to say it...Katy Perry. And rather than "Model as Muse" the theme seemed to be 'Model as Giantess' as they towered over their tiny designers.

I have lots of opinions on this, but I will be brief. Love everything said by the 1st commentor. I think that fashion, like most things is a reflection of the underlying mindset of the general public. We all deal in norms and what we consider deviations from that norm. And it is difficult to escape the way you hve been conditioned to perceive the world without actively working to counteract that conditioning. When I got the Vogue Italia, the first thing I noticed was the lack of women of color in the ad campaigns, starkly contrasted agains the editorials. That is where I think the problem is the most visable.
Also, on the Gisele comments, there is a difference between ethnicity (heritage, culture, physical characteristics, origin, etc.) and nationality (country of citizenship). If you are black or of African descent, but born and raised in Japan and a legal citizen, you are both fully Japanese and fully black. Much like how Charlize Theron is South African or Gisele is Brasilian regardless of their ancestry.

I think that placing "Duh" at the end of the answer gives it a little something extra, don't you? smh
