sretsis is not so obscure? i've seen it name dropped quite a few times in the last year or so. they were even in a mainstream magazine recently (lucky? or elle?)

a speaker that came to my college fashion program gave a huge seminar on fashion in Second Life. She believes it will be the true "future" of fashion and revolutionize the design procress.
just as you mentioned above big labels have noticed and made their mark in the virtual world.
pretty crazy to think about?

where would the fashion industry be without fashion week? it's about much more than just showing the clothes; it's about the glamour and grandeur of fashion, the networking, and the whole fantasy that surrounds each designer's collections.
it would be a very sad day in fashion if there were no more shows.. :/

she looks beautiful! she is brining national attention to the fashion industry and relatively unknown designers (at least unknown to the masses!)
good for her:)

ah I've always wondered what designer's collection was "Melanie Carmichael's" in Sweet Home Alabama.. it's one of my favorite movies, although oh so cheesy.
thanks for the tip off guest #13

seems a bit unethical although i wouldnt be surprised if we see designers doin this quite a bit as a sort of durvival of the fittest technique.

ah i love electric feel; whenever I hear it I think of fashion.
I heard "Rich Girl" on tonight's episode of "The City"; definitely starting off fashion week with the new anthem.

this is so sad! & i feel terrible for the designers who designed collections with the intent that they would be on television..

This is a really interesting and pertinent post. In my fashion classes they tell us to wear a traditional suit to an interview, but I think that seems a little bit outdated. I would think if you're applying for a creative position you should at least look a little bit more fashion forward.

I agree with #20! the power of social media is insane.
& I truly sympathize with the owner. They weren't trying to provide the public with a knock off, she probably just saw it at a trade show or market & thought it was a cute, stylish bag. It's nearly impossible to remember every bag that graces the runway.
It's the manufacturers that should be frowned upon; they scour through runway pictures to find bags to recreate. They're the ones doing the misdeed.

I believe the prices are the same with the exchange rate (which is why visitors from england could have a field day in our stores).
When I was in London last summer I was super disappointed when the only thing I could afford there was a pair of union jack boy shorts :/
