I LOVE watches. I also don't always have my phone in reach. But the wrist, it's always there.
That and it's just like another piece of jewelry.
I think watches and handbags go hand in hand. oops, pun. Oh well.

I love the Dior ring. All their jewelry is phenomenal and artistic. I cannot tell you how many pieces they've designed that I have fallen completely in love with.
If I could afford that ring, I would buy it and wear it every day. Seriously.
However, I can't afford it. Neither can thousands of others. What am I suppose to do? Hang a picture of it from W on my wall? That just doesn't work. I've tried it. :(
If someone can make something similar, sure with less artistic skill, for $25. You can bet I will buy it.
I will still love the Dior ring and I would wear that $25 ring like it was the Dior ring. Just like I have a PRINT of Monet's Sunset in Venice on my wall. I don't tell people it's the real thing. Trust me, that would be hilarious! But I can still love it like I would the real thing.
So, while I hate counterfeit purses and such that CLAIM to be Prada or LV, with the labels and such - I cannot object to things made "in the style of". Much like the poster on my wall is clearly not the original, it is still just as beautiful.
But then, I guess I don't care about the "status" of something as I do the creativity and beauty. Frankly, I could care less if my purse has an LV stamped on it. It's not the letters that matter, it's the design.
Others though do care if someone can see the LV stamp. But then, they aren't going to care about this...
Well, I've weighed in on this Adventures in Copyright, finally. Can't wait to see what crazy and outrageous comments others make. I love the whack-a-doo ones. Totally makes me laugh. :)

It's nice that I will never have to witness this collaboration and its product. Walmart is the LAST place I would go to, nuclear winter included.
(though, there was one "celebrity line" that I loved. Bless Jessica Simpson and her insanely comfortable shoes! It may just be her name on them and someone else's work - but that someone else did one hell of a good job.) :)

They just freak me out, like a phobia.
Like skinny jeans and leggings, this is one trend I would rather NOT pick up.

first of all, to #7, I have to echo the group. I had an A cup all through high school. It made me terribly self-conscious. My senior year I had decided that I would get an augmentation for the C cup as soon as I could afford it. Well, two years later they grew to a B. One cup size was all I needed to realize that they weren't so bad. I could wear all the tops and dresses that my friends with C's and D's couldn't fit in.
And for those times when you really want to fill in/fall out of a dress, you can always pop over to VS and pick out a padded bra.
Also, with A cups, you don't really have to wear bras and that can look really good sometimes too. A friend of mine with A's does it all the time. She loves it. (I get jealous)
And finally, while I've been insecure about my body and looks, very few people have ever told me what they don't like (except my mom regarding my hips). It's all about who you surround yourself with. If I hear someone I'm hanging out with make a harsh comment about someone else's appearance, I no longer have any interest in being around them. What would they say about me when I left the room?
I don't have a gazillion friends but I love the ones I do have more than anything. They are The.Best. And that's really what matters. I think.

Also, here's a question to throw out there:
Tavi is 13 (this is the first I'm hearing about the girl), right? She's on a cover of two magazines. She's got a blog. Okay, check.
Now, what was Kate Moss doing when she was 13, two years away from hitting a runway? (Someone out there thought that 15 yr olds on runways was okay, so there's bound to be someone who thinks 13 yr olds on magazine covers is okay).
I think that what we are witnessing here, as it unfolds, is a new Kate. God Bless! Only time will tell as people watch her grow but that was also the case when Kate first appeared. What would Kate being doing now if she was a 13 yr old in love with fashion - watching the world around her, about to be discovered by a dude in a airport. Damn, I bet she'd have a blog. :)
Sure there will be criticisms, there are always ruthless people out there anonymous or otherwise. But, whatever - those out there making a difference, creating Something interesting or unique, doing what others only dream of do not comment on blogs, they do not keep facebook accounts. Hell, they probably don't watch TV either. They are out there DOING. Commenters be damned. :)
Anyway, thanks Fashionista for introducing me to her - I can't wait to see what she does when she's 15 :)

Major magazines hire serious skill (and sometimes, not) to work their editorials. Ad agencies hire serious skill (and sometimes, not) to work their campaigns.
LA might have some major firms as well but to the extent of NY?
Some comparisons just don't work. Like holding an apple (hehe) to an orange...
Just keep doing what you're doing NY, it's why we love you. :)
