Entry: Hometown Style

I absolutely have this happen to me. Everytime I go back home I get comments on what I'm wearing. Today I'm wearing a black square-necked dress that I belted, with black tights, my grey Marc Jacobs graphic bracelet and dark mauve platform oxfords. I paired this with my new eggplant huge leather tote and my cream and black plaid coat.

In NYC that doesn't stand out, but if I wear this tonight when I go back to my hometown I know I will get lots of comments about "how New York" I look.

I also noticed this when I went to Philly, where my best friend now lives. I wore what to me is a normal outfit, and I stood out in a sea of bootcut jeans and sweatshirts. Even my friend said she felt like she had to dress up just to go shopping with me!

I like having my nails all sorts of "odd" colors.

Currently they're acid purple, and they really stand out from all of the black polish you see on the girls out there.

I wore white nail polish for a while before I got tired of it; Sally Hansen 10 Day No Chip actually does what it claims to (or almost).

Chips on white nails are just as noticeable as their darker counterparts.

I actually took Xenical when it was prescription only, before it was renamed Alli and sold as OTC. It was horrid- I completely regret taking it. The doctor said I would change my eating habits and he was right; instead of eating protein and veggies and salads like I had been, I started eating nothing because the Xenical made me so ill.

Nothing like oily stool, gas bubbles so big and painful that I could literally move them through my intestines by pushing on my stomach... bloating... oh, and the pain of course.

I assume people wont listen and they'll have to learn themselves, but it's frightening that any reputable magazine would push these pills...

I usually carry a HUGE bag- one that would had been considered an overnight bag to previous generations, but now blends in with the other immensly oversized purses out there.

It was huge and eggplant and almost YSLish...

Until my boyfriend bought me an amazing Marc by Marc bag for our 3 yr ann.

It looks medium sized, but I can fit a ton in there some how. This morning I had my makeup bag, wallet, sunglasses in their case, can of soup, greek yogurt, small tupperwear container, cell phone, Lucky magazine, business cards and digital camera. It doesn't look overstuffed and I feel like it's teeny.

I actually was unimpressed with what I found at the Warehouse sale... Personally, I would rather go to Neiman Marcus last call or Saks off Fifth and find better deals as well as be able to try on clothes in a dressing room, instead of an aisle. It reminded me of attempting to shop in my closet.

Guest at 10:07, you're completely right- this came out during the Superbowl... and has been playing pretty consistently since then on all sorts of channels... So, not so new.

I went to the Union Target yesterday and there was nothing... either everything got snapped up or maybe not much was ever put out. Bummer and a waste of gas!
