Try your grandmother :-)
Or travel to Europe: So many museums sell these kinds of things. Such museums are normally located in castles, châteaus or palaces. Schönbrunn in Vienna for example; I was there wehn I was a child and I remember that they sold jewelry that resembled Kaiserin Sisi's.
You might also want to try Esterhazy.

I guess France and Austria are good places to go. Austria has managed to stuff all of the past monarchy's history in every castle they could find. I loved going to museums about kings, queens and princesses when I was a child.

Entry: Opinions on Fall 08 Couture Collections!

Did they influence or inspire you?
Certainly Haute Couture reminds us that clean and high quality productions is very desirable. Not only in fashion. Everywhere. It plays a great role.

Do you look at the Couture collections each season?
Yes. I love to.

What is your opinion on Haute Couture?
I love Haute Couture. What a pity that it doesn't really exist for men. I love everything about couture. I will definitely try seaming one day. I appreciate hand-crafting a lot more than everything else. (Although I am kinda a geek, I guess)

Is Haute Couture still necessary?
Yes. Seeing it alone makes me happy. I do not need to possess Haute couture but I love looking at it and I have a lot of respect for all the people who are involved in the process of making such genius and beautiful garments.

Why is Haute Couture important?
Isn't that how the fashion week madness always ends? The crowning, you might call it. Haute Couture must never be lost!

Has Couture gone stale or is it still exciting?
Haute Couture is still very exciting. In some way it is beyond our dreams and yet so realistic. It's amazing, enchanting and divine. It always pushes the boundaries.

How do you think the couture collections will be affected by the current financial recession?
It will. It's become a bit of a tradition, as it still exists. Haute Couture fashion houses will not give it up for a financial crisis. Isn't the question: What will happen to the customers (their money) in the financial recession?

I hope that helped. Good luck with your dissertation. I wish you all the best.

xo & Cheers, Raphael :)

PS.: This all sounds very interesting. I'd love to hear more about that dissertation of yours.

I'm a boy, so: no!
As far as I know old women wear a muff, at least here in Austria. If I were to invest in fur I want it around my upper body. (And I want it to say "Screw you, peta"). Anyway, I don't like muffs that much.

This particular issue of British VOGUE is so worth the ridiculously high price I paid (just because I'm in Austria and they–for some reason–are not).
So go buy British DEcember VOGUE (The fantastic issue). Worrying about money isn't very fashionable, is it?

hey ms guest, Zara is such a beautiful place to go! At least here in Europe. Nothing looks as cheap as clothes and sores of H&M but everything is JUST AS LOW-PRICED.
Don't panic New Yorkers! Zara doesn't sell ugly garments, which means they never run out of beautiful, awesome things. I

I would buy it right now. If it only didn't have al those frills I absolutely don't need. I mean: it has a 5MP camera. Everybody knows that cell phone cameras are trash unless it's not a camera with cell phone capabilities.
omg, it's so beautiful. and the keyboard

*marvels at the phone and melts away*

Wear something VERY fancy. The wedding is all about you. You deserve something special. There are two ways of doing that kind of fancy that I mean: couture-like or Alice-In-Wonderland. And don't forget to stay away from red wine. And food. Don't eat starting right NOW.
I can see the disadvantages for wearing the wedding dress and I really think it's sad that you can only wear that fabulous piece of garment only once. :'(

Wedding tears, xoxo & Cheers, Raphael :)

PS.: Will you plz send me a pic of you in your Wedding dress?

I haven't flown in years. Last September I had a nine hour flight to USA. So I wore a pair of dark, rather tight jeans and a very light blue basic T-Shirt from H&M and a light knit vest. I was comfortable and acceptably dressed for a two-hour bus ride and finally meeting my host parents. By the way, I stopped caring for comfortable clothes years ago.

I can't shop with any of my friends. They all have utterly different taste and so they don't quite understand me. Plus, it's so much faster if I shop on my own. It's, like above mentioned, almost like meditation. Talking to shopping assistants is very pleasant sometimes but I don't ask them for advice.

I sometimes take my mother, because she pays and she knows a lot about fabric (since she worked in a shop herself for almost all her life) and she shortens all my pants.
And she always asks me for style advice, which means I can pick things that will be in my mother's wardrobe, which is really nice!
