I don't find this story very compelling. For me, it appears to be forced, weighty, and trying. I'm left with a feeling of melancholy, despite their attempt to bring to mind the presence of light.

this is a great story. i love the strong, hard edge that emerges in each shot. my favorite photo is the second one (dolce & gabanna suit) - it speaks to the fact that the simplest of moments can be wrought with sex appeal. clothes are an excellent vehicle for unveiling what's hidden behind one's cover.

Gemma is gorgeous and extremely talented - definately one of the most creative, artistic, and expressive models out there today. It's always to my pleasant suprise that when she speaks she's entirely intelligent and grounded. I believe she's a very well rounded girl whose maturity has been enhanced by her success, which we see so rarely these days in the numerous young starlets; I expect that we will see her do some amazing things in her career.

I would expect that "wierd," "creepy," and "scary" were the intentional impressions of the creative minds behind this shoot. That being said, I’m left feeling uninspired and a bit unsettled – I feel like I just viewed the disturbing photos from a child kidnapping or soft porn gone wrong.

Lily Cole has one of the most interesting faces out there today, totally set apart from those seemingly starved women with protruding cheekbones that we so frequently see dominating the magazines and catwalks. That being said, I find this spread utterly refreshing. It captures not only the cheeky innocence and femininity of the clothes, but also demonstrates how designers today (Erin Featherston, Stella McCartney named here) are able to take styles and inspirations to a place that transcends time and resonates in our vastly different culture today.

I appreciate the idea of playing with denim and exhibiting how the many denim pieces we’ve seen on the runways as of late may be worn in “real life.” However, I think this spread falls short of its intended goal; those of us in the real world that take pride in fashionably wearing denim do a much better job of it, nautical stripes and knit sweaters included.

The sixties and seventies (seventies in particular) are my favorite decades for inspiration. Style in this era evokes diversity and brilliance, a sense of freedom that translates into fashion followers identifying those pieces that leave them wholly besotted. The fluidity, motion, color pallets, prints, textures, and intricate details allow the vixens of the world to define that which makes them singular, special, and therefore irresistible.

I absolutely hate the slick-back, dated, matronly hair on the “older” woman in this story. It doesn’t look original, it doesn’t look fresh, it just looks terrible. For both of these women, every look is practically the same look; no versatility, no excitement. Neither of them sell the clothes their wearing, and both of them look drugged/sleepy (whichever you prefer). And pairing a gargantuan elder up with a pre-teen mini-waif was a rather ridiculous move – it doesn’t bring to mind the beauty of youth and aging; instead it emphasizes the extremes of going for the “not trying at all” look while you’re young, and inevitably trying too hard when you’re old.

While a few of her shots aren’t the best, I feel this spread has integrity. It’s refreshing to see someone, whose job (at least in this story) is to embody an age, do so in a way that is still exciting, vibrant, and sexy. We all know how old Cindy is; but as the old saying goes “you’re only as old as you feel.” In this story, she looks like she doesn’t feel a day over 18.

Lily is fabulous - you could put a brown paper bag on that girl, and she'd sell the hell out of it.

It's great to see equal representation of black/white models. If you notice, there's three white models, and three black models. Equality is beautiful.

I love everything about this spread. The positioning of the light, and Sasha's ability to capture that in her face. The artistry envoked in her posing really flatters the clothes, and highlights the fabulous details that make them distinctive and unique.
