i wish i could justify spending that much on sunglasses. i can't spend more than $15 on any pair, or they'll break and/or disappear. :/

i don't think it is a conflict of interest for nylon plugging fashionista and vice versa, since faran no longer really works for fashionista, but it is convenient. scratch my back and i'll scratch yours.

besides a kid getting an expensive jacket dirty, what do you do when they grow out of it two months after you buy it? i hope the parents who buy it have enough offspring or at least enough extended family to pass the jacket on until IT'S vintage.

don't forget, j was dressing in polka dots and headbands when she was trying to fit in with blair's group. a lot of 15 year olds dress a certain way to fit in with a certain crowd.

my sorority doesn't wear much pink at all. but we're also in santa barbara- we tend to stick to blues and greens and neutrals that go with our beach location. and on that note, the only pink thing i own is a bright bubblegum pink shawl scarf. i like to wear something bright on dreary days.

the goodwill in my neighborhood sucks! probably because it's in south orange county...everything is last year's target, old navy, or forever 21 clothes, not very special. but the cool stuff is expensive! i was looking for leather jackets and they were at least $40 each.

i always wore keds as a kid because they were the only sneakers that fit my narrow foot, thus i hated them. now i have a red pair of champions, and they still fit better than my boring blue vans. and i get compliments on them all the time. plus, they're machine washable! doubly-awesome.

why should you have to justify it? why not just smile and say "thank you" and graciously accept the compliment?

deciding what to write *would* be the hardest part! i'd probably end up writing it on another piece of fabric (maybe like cheap offwhite muslin) and either sew it on or pin it so i could switch it up.
this reminds me of a shirt i saw in a catalog once. it had a graphic of a "my name is ___" nametag with a blank to write your name, and the marker that it came with was actually washable and you could change it whenever you wanted to.

ooooh i'm trying this! i have naturally curly hair and i'm always looking for faster ways to style it. of course, it will have to wait until my hair needs a wash...i spent almost an hour blowing my hair out and flat-ironing it last night and i'm not letting it go to waste!

the teeny-bopper mags like bop and tiger beat used to do this all the time. there are only so many pics of the jonas brothers and such to go around. i used to notice as at 12-year-old putting up backstreet boys pics on my walls. one mag would take a pic from another and flip the image and publish it.

@ 11: i don't think there is an actual boarding school in montecito, either, but remember, it's just a TV show!
they filmed the beach scenes for the OC not in orange county, but in LA county beaches like redondo and zuma. and constance billard isn't a real school either, although it's supposed to be based on an actual one.
however, i think there is some kind of foreign language institute in montecito.

i checked out the jonathan saunders line. the sizing isn't consistent, and while that marbelized fabric has a rad-looking print, it looks and feels cheap. i was bummed.
and i'm going as ziggy stardust for halloween! i always do DIY costumes. i combined a store-bought wig and leggings with a tuxedo shirt my mom had and an old swimsuit and boots.
