yeah while i am not a fan of twilight i can still respect it, i read my fair share of books like that when i was 12. it is not supposed to be a work of literary genius; its target market is obsessed preteen girls who want entertainment/an escape. it is just a fad that caught on like wildfire.

yeah wow. no statement patterns or oversized jewelry? i mean, where's the fun in fashion if everyone is wearing knee-length black pencil skirts and stud earrings?
a quote from that article: "Extravagant freedom of expression should be left to the younger set." uhm, really? everyone is entitled to self expression...especially through fashion. the key is to express yourself tastefully

I definitely agree with some of the comments already made. Vogue needs to implement beautiful and chic women from all over the country to cater to a bigger audience. Also, less "cookie-cutter" covers; I would love to see 12 radically different people featured during the year. Designers on covers could be interesting, too. They have a very different perspective than actresses and models.
While I do not mind the expensive clothing (it's fabulous to look at, and is there is something to be said for being the "cream of the crop" in any industry), they should include a monthly section in every issue of affordable pieces one can go out and purchase.

exactly, i agree with number 5... the company that produces the knock off and sells it is making money off of an idea that is not theirs, whereas just being innovative and saving yourself some cash is different.

haha okay i may not be as passionate about it as comment 58 was, but... c'mon, ridiculing someone for smoking a cig? i'm not saying i agree with it, however it's their choice so leave it be. and secondly, as the term streetwalker implies, this is real people on the street... it's not necessairly supposed to be the most fashion-forward. although it is not my particular taste, i think the girls look/are cute.
a side note: i would like to see a broader range of styles in the streetwalker section; there are people who are not "hipsters" (not sure what the right word is?) out there who are wearing interesting outfits as well.

i think she looks great, its not my personal style but that doesn't mean it's awful just because i wouldn't wear it. fashion is fun, let her have fun with it. its not atrocious, just a bit too much for me to wear. i'm sick of everyone always bashing the streetwalkers on this site; it is possible to voice disagreement while being polite and tactful.

suzanne marie, this is not the first time i have seen you post a link to that website while stating how much you just "love" a piece of jewelry on a post that is completely irrelevant. they sound like advertisements, can you please not cloud up the comments section with your personal promotions? thank you.

#4... the point is the copying not the price.
i'm glad he is taking action, because even though i can't afford the mcqueen bootie i can appreciate that is was his original idea; its not fair for someone else to steal it, regardless of whether it is affordable or not.

i'm in no way opposed to aic posts, but i do not think that it was necessary in this specific instance. the aldo heels are not a blatant copy, they are honestly inspired by... the only similarity is they are in the same color family and they both have studs (and different studs, at that).
but everyone needs to stop getting so huffy about it; if you think its okay to buy copies then buy them, and if you don't, then don't. fashionista is not being 'snobby' with the aic posts, they just don't agree with ripping off designers original ideas. it is not that the person who can afford the designer product is better than the person who can't, it is that it is unfair for chains to blatantly copy a designer product, just like plagiarism and other forms of taking others ideas is wrong... inspiration is not; people are inspired by art all the time and incorporate that into a new work of art. inspiration is good, it keeps things constantly evolving and moving forward.
again, however, with all that said, i do not think this match up qualifies for an aic post; it is inspiration.

@ comment 5:
i don't think its greedy for him to do ecommerce, what about all the people who don't live in big cities and want themselves some wang? people who appreciate the experience of trying things on and seeing things in person will still go to the stores. he is just branching out and growing... nothing wrong with a little bit of success.

i agree with the collegiate... at least she appreciates what her money can buy and has her own perspective. while i like luella and am sad to see the label go, a) you can't even compare it with lacroix, and b) it is her personal opinion... can't people just agree to disagree anymore?
