Kate Middleton Smelled Like White Gardenia Petals on Her Wedding Day

Why has no one been talking about Kate Middleton’s wedding perfume? A scent can be the ultimate accessory (though obviously it’s difficult to take a picture of someone’s smell). If you want to be very thorough in knocking off Kate’s wedding, one must know these details.

Basenotes, a very comprehensive and brainy fragrance blog, broke the news that Kate wore White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum. Never heard of Illuminum? The line’s English founder, Michael Boadi, is a former celebrity and runway hair stylist. He launched a first line of perfumes (with the questionable name of Boadicea the Victorious), which currently has 35 fragrances. Michelle Obama purchased three of them back in 2009.

The First Kate Middleton Knockoff Wedding Gowns and Accessories Hit Stores; Here Are the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Mere minutes after Kate Middleton’s now-famous Sarah Burton for McQueen wedding gown was revealed, wedding dress “designers” scurried to see who could copy be inspired by it the quickest. “Simple” is one of the words that has been used most frequently to describe the gown, and though that hardly applies to the construction of the gown–lace workers washed their hands every 30 minutes and replaced their needles every three hours to ensure that the lace remained pure white–bridal companies and dress makers have nevertheless run with it to knock off the dress and get into the market ASAP.

Shala Moradi of Faviana, a bridal label frequently inspired by celebrities’ gowns, told E!, “It’s easier than what I was expecting, and we’re going to do it in a few days.” We’re sure Sarah Burton and her team of artisans would take some exception to that statement. Moradi told E! that a bride called before the royal wedding saying that no matter what the dress looked like, she wanted a copy. Everyone from David’s Bridal to Nordstrom is planning to carry the look-alike gowns, and stores started placing orders the day of the wedding.

The Best and Worst Hats and Fascinators of the Royal Wedding

After the dress, the royal wedding is really all about the hats. And fascinators.

Some opted for opulence while others stuck to tradition, and some looked as though they either over thought or put no thought into their head gear at all. Among the best were the devilishly elegant Zara Phillips, Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria, and Queen Sofia and Princess Letizia of Spain.

But there were some who buckled under the pressure, as you will see after the jump.

In Praise of Pippa (Especially Her Bum–There’s Even a Facebook Fan Page Devoted To It)

Though we hate to say anyone stole the show from the bride, let’s be real: It was pretty hard to take your eyes off the Maid of Honor, little sister Pippa Middleton. Stepping out of the Rolls Royce for the first time, clad in a form-fitting Sarah Burton-designed white column dress with plunging neckline MOH Pippa looked, well, hot. I believe Leah’s exact words were “smoking.” In fact, a slew of news reports have already sprung up praising Pippa, with headlines ranging from tasteful, “Perfect Maid of Honor” to snarky, “How Kate Got Pippa-ed.” Twitter exploded with similar praise, albeit a little less eloquently spoken. Samples: @susiebubble: “It has to be said…. I’m a tad jels over the pertness of Pip Middleton’s arse….” @iamToddyTickles: “Pippa Middleton, best body at the wedding other than David Beckham.” or @RyanReport : “If you are honest and lead a good life and help other people, you might be reincarnated as Pippa Middleton’s nylons.”

In particular, as Miss Lau pointed out, one of Pippa’s, erm, assets has garnered a loyal fanbase: Her rear-end. Yep, there’s actually a whole Facebook group devoted to appreciating her arse (aptly called the “Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society”), that’s so far received just under 5,000 likes.

Kate Middleton’s DIY Makeup Routine and Essie Manicure (She’s Just Like Us!)

After reports surfaced yesterday that Kate Middleton would–gasp!–do her own makeup for the wedding, the bride’s beauty look was unsurprisingly understated and natural-looking. Apparently before the wedding Kate took lessons from makeup artist Arabella Preston–whose website states she is “particularly adept at natural bridal makeup”–and, according to People, the princess felt so comfortable with the techniques Preston showed her, that she opted to go DIY on the big day. It’s a risky move for any bride, let alone one that’s got millions, wait scratch that, billions of people tuned in to watch, but we have to say that Kate pulled it off. The softly smoky eye, slightly blushed cheeks and nude lips were not only beautiful, they were distinctly Kate–and that’s how every bride should look on her big day: like herself, of course.

Kate Middleton Dress Update: All Signs Point To McQueen

Here they are, the last of the dress rumors before we actually see Kate Middleton in her hysteria-inducing wedding dress:

Someone who people think looks like Sarah Burton, creative director at Alexander McQueen, was snapped outside The Goring hotel where Kate Middleton is staying before her big day. Nice try wearing that hat Sarah! “Like the woman who arrived at the hotel at 3pm, three hours before Kate, Mrs Burton has a slender build, fair skin and favours loose-fitting, cropped blue trousers and flat ballet pumps,” the Daily Mail breathlessly reports. The rumors that Middleton would wed in McQueen started back in March, when London’s Sunday Times reported it and stood by their story despite denials from McQueen.

But wait, there’s more.
