Louise Goldin Spring 2013
Sculptural, sporty and straight-up cool.

The Clothes: In a word: LOUD. Serkan Sarier went for big and bold this season, with an explosion of wallpaper prints, colored lace and bold brights–there was certainly nothing subtle or quiet about the collection. There were mint green frocks with huge floral pockets, flouncy yellow frocks cut through with bold, digitized floral prints, and Read more →
Sporty and sexy. Athletic wear–sweatshirts, basketball jerseys–get the lingerie treatment.
Francisco Costa served up the sexy (in a subtle, minimalist way, of course) for his spring collection for Calvin Klein. The last collection of the week, it was also one of the best.
The Clothes: Spring 2013 was a seminal season for J. Lindeberg. It marks the first time womenswear has been shown in North America for the brand, and last night’s presentation also coincided with the release of a limited edition book (only 70 copies!) photographed by Peter Lindbergh. Thus, there were a lot of eyes on Read more →
The Clothes: Punky, pop-kitsch, raucous fun. Minnie Mouse must have a great agent, because she is everywhere these days, between Barneys, OPI, and now: Gerlan. Gerlan gave Minnie swagger with inspired, blown up polkadots and exaggerated, bouncy bows attached to neoprene bodice dresses and skirts, silk jumpsuits, and “bow-veralls.” My inner six-year-old (okay, maybe mid-20s) Read more →
The Clothes: Like a long sigh of relief. The adrenaline-pounding scrimmage of fashion shows are exciting in their own way. But sometimes, the quiet excitement of admiring really beautiful, detailed-oriented close up close is better, like in yesterday’s presentation for Haus Alkire. Held in the backyard of a West Village townhouse, models stood simply in Read more →
In what may be this week’s juciest, most dramatic piece of news, Oscar de la Renta wrote an open letter responding to Horyn’s harsh criticism of him and it was printed in today’s WWD.
Update: Horyn has responded.
¡Olé!
Well, it’s finally here: the last day of New York Fashion Week. We’ve seen some amazing looks from some of our favorite people, but it turns out some of them have been saving the best for last. Check out the last contenders for our street style picks, including break out star Leaf Greener, Joanna Hillman and Lisa Marie Fernandez.
Is the fash pack getting more decisive or just more sleep deprived? Tough call. On the penultimate day of shows, consensus was Marchesa’s Bollywood-inspired beaded and brocaded flights of fashion fancy when beyond the point of OTT, and by comparison Michael Kors’s rugby striped prototypes felt a little, well, catalog. Meanwhile, way downtown at the Beekman Palace, with their grommeted perforated leather and digital reptilian printed spliced creations, the Proenza boys nailed the sweet spot between art and commerce.
These are the most buzzed about collections on day 7 of NYFW.
If there’s ever a show where you should expect the unexpected, it’s Jeremy Scott. Long a favorite, but never quite the big winner, loyalists to his line include Katy Perry and her stylist is here front row to see just what type of exciting, daring, fashion risks Jeremy is going to show us today. Tyra Banks sits front row as well and spotted on the feet of show goers are plenty of cool, clean, Adidas sneakers creating a singular type of atmosphere that only a man like Jeremy can create.
This is NYFW through the eyes of a sports fanatic.
