Vogue Cover Rumor Update: Adele Will Cover March, But Taylor Swift Nabs a Cover Too

Earlier today we reported on two conflicting rumors concerning US Vogue’s March covergirl: Styleite had it going to Taylor Swift, while WWD heard that Vogue was asking for “special cover outfits” from designers for an Adele cover.

Well, we think we’ve cleared things up. We have it on good authority that Adele is Vogue’s March covergirl and Taylor Swift will cover February. It’s a big deal that Adele is covering March. March is the spring fashion issue and is the second most important issue following September. The covergirl has to be commercial and appealing to advertisers. And the fact that Vogue has decided on Adele for March, someone who doesn’t look like most other Vogue covergirls is a big deal. So kudos to Vogue for going with Adele here–let’s just hope they don’t give her the British Vogue close-crop treatment.

The 15 Most Stylish Music Videos of 2011

The 15 Most Stylish Music Videos of 2011

Music—especially the men and women who make it—has served as inspiration in the fashion world for decades, and this year we felt it more than ever.

Everywhere we turned, musical muses were popping up in the front rows of runway shows (in some cases, even on the runway), as well as on magazine covers month after month. The fascination fashion has with music must go both ways, because artists have recently stepped up their style game in their music videos as well, wearing pieces from the world’s most prestigious fashion houses and custom couture creations that would make even the most snobbish of editors drool.

The 2011 crop of music videos featured everything from ’90s supermodels to rampant fashion photography references, and we’ve picked the 15 videos that we believe really stood out in the style department. Which one did you watch on repeat?

Karl Creates Makeup, Snowglobe for Sephora Europe and Asia: Karl can’t stop, won’t stop. This time, he’s created a capsule collection which includes a Karl snow globe, Karl doll, and color cosmetics. I’m actually planning a European vacation just to secure a Lagerfeldian snow globe of my very own. {WWD}

Gisele on Her Diet and Perfect Life: Gisele tells British Vogue that she basically never drinks, and her children think vegetables are dessert. Also, she only eats red meat twice a month, and she prays before she does. Could a Gisele cooking/lifestyle blog, a la Gwyneth’s GOOP be in the near future? {Fashionologie}

Vivienne Westwood Visits Occupy London: To which percent does the British style icon belong? The eccentric designer and lifelong activist visited the protest site at St. Paul’s Cathedral for two hours. She’s been known to incorporate anti-establishment messages into her designs, so she could’ve been looking for inspiration for her next collection. {NY Mag}

Katie Grand, Sarah Burton, Tom Ford Among British Fashion Award Nominees

The British Fashion Council has just announced the nominees for the 2011 British Fashion Awards, which are essentially the U.K.’s answer to our prestigious CFDA’s. The ceremony, which is scheduled for November 28, is meant to recognize the most influential people in fashion today and also promote the growth of British fashion.

With all the attention the U.K. has been getting lately for that stylish princess of theirs and being dubbed the “new fashion capital,” British fashion is definitely more relevant than ever this year. That may be why the BFC has decided to re-introduce the Red Carpet award, which “gives recognition to a British designer who is creating global awareness of their designs in the media.”

From Kim Jones to Stella McCartney to Erdem, here are all the nominees:

“Burgers and Nails” Tumblr Mixes Our Two Favorite Things: Food and Manicures

Everyone’s discovered the brilliant Tumblr “Burgers and Nails” today, including us. We have also spent a disproportionate amount of time analyzing each and every photo. If you haven’t paid it a visit yet, some advice: 1) Don’t look at it if you’re hungry. 2) Don’t look at it if you’re a vegetarian. The burgers are very graphic.

Anyway, we love this concept of beauty plus food. We’re hoping that more celebs will lend their phalanges to this project. Adele is there. This would be a brilliant vehicle for Gaga and Deborah Lippmann to do a crazy beauty spread. While the nail art is not the best we’ve seen, the big burgers it’s wrapped around really elevate the whole experience. Anyway. We’re inspired. And hungry.

Click through to see our favorites–we’re sure you will be, too.
