Kate Middleton Receives Two Unusual Honors: The Duchess of Cambridge has gotten a lot of attention for her sartorial choices, so it can’t be too much of a surprise that she is being awarded for it. What is somewhat unusual is the source: The Headwear Association has named Kate their “Hat Person of the Year.” (Seriously, that exists.) The Duchess also made the cover of Scouting magazine, who has dubbed her “The Royal Role Model” for her volunteer work. {Elle UK / People}

Alexa Chung for Superga, Pt 2: In addition to reprising her role as campaign star, Alexa Chung has also been enlisted as stylist for the new ads. Superga gave her full control, so she took photographer Guy Aroch and stamped the ads with her own quirky humor. Here, Chung poses in bed with a sneaker to her ear as a phone. Will you buy? {Telegraph}

Heidi Klum and Seal Aren’t The Kind Who Have Nasty Break-Ups: We’ve watched a lot of nasty celebrity divorces unfold (see: Demi & Ashton), but just a day after confirming his breakup with his supermodel wife, Heidi Klum, Seal is assuring us that his divorce will not be drama-filled (at least not publicly). The singer told Tavis Smiley: “We’re just not those kind of people. What one has to do in this situation is to remain civil, to retain one’s dignity, to be professional, and to understand that we are not the only people on this planet that are going through this.” {ONTD}

S&H Publishers and Milk Gallery present Aaron Stern "Everyone Must Be Announced"

Last night, we stopped by Milk Studios to fete Everyone Must be Announced, a new photography book by Aaron Stern, which was released on Shipley & Halmos’ publishing division, S&H Publishers. Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos have been a quiet force in fashion for the past several years and have gradually been adding new non-clothing products and projects to their repertoire, such as hand-illustrated re-drawings of album covers, dog collars, a fragrance, and even their own book.

After a quick chat with one of the evening’s DJs, Alexa Chung–she and Aaron Stern once planned an Occupy Wall Street party together–we caught up with Sam, who filled us in on he and Jeff’s newest project and how they’ve managed to break the mold when it comes to being fashion designers.

It’s official. The universe is completely obsessed with manicures and nail art. If you don’t believe us, look here. And celebrities are always a source of inspiration–sometimes for what NOT to do, but usually making us pea green with envy because of their cleverly covered digits. While many famous ladies sported a sophisticated neutral palette this past year, there is an elite pack who said, “Screw that. We like glitter.” Katy Perry even famously changed her manicure mid-VMAs this year.

Click through to see all the celebs this year who used their nails for artistic expression, to make a personal statement, and sometimes to just generally intimidate us.

The results from the British Fashion Awards are in and while there are a lot of familiar names in the winners’ circle, there are some surprises, too. Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen won for Designer of the Year (deservedly so). Alexa Chung took home the British Style award, which normally wouldn’t be so shocking–except this year she was up against Kate Middleton *gasp*. The Model category, made up of industry vets and a relative newcover, was a bit of a wild card. Stella Tennant, looking amazing in a skinny tuxedo, beat out Georgia May Jagger and Kristen McMenamy. Victoria Beckham, now a bona fide fashion designer, had some stiff competition with Burberry, Stella McCartney and Tom Ford for Designer Brand, but she won. Quite an achievement for a former pleather-wearing Spice Girl. Click through for a full list of winners:

Could your astrological sign make you suited to a career in fashion?

As ridiculous as that may sound, Anna Wintour, Robbie Myers, Glenda Bailey, Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, Edith Head, Emilio Pucci, Kelly Cutrone, Peter Lindbergh, Alexa Chung, Isabella Blow, Daphne Guinness, Chloe Sevigny, Lauren Hutton, Jean Shrimpton and Helmut Newton are just a few of the many editors, designers, photographers and style icons who were born under the sign of Scorpio. These folks are successful, powerful, iconic and we had a hunch that it wasn’t just a coincidence.

I happen to be a Scorpio myself and considered that might be the only reason I kept noticing other fashion people with November birthdays, until I realized other people had noticed that as well, like Astrologyzone‘s Susan Miller (aka the fashion industry’s most trusted advisor).

Susan also does the horoscopes for Elle, so she’s familiar with the fashion world, and in fact, works for Scorpio editor Robbie Myers. Also, one of her daughters is Chrissie Miller, designer of Sophomore. Susan was nice enough to chat with us about Scorpio personality traits and why this particular water sign is such a great fit for the fashion industry.
