It’s not unusual for androgynous model Andrej Pejic to shock people with his gender-bending editorials, but this time he’s done it on Twitter. The model-of-the-moment seems to have re-discovered “Maurica” and “her” hilarious viral YouTube videos (see below)–a parody dating profile of a transvestite from the LES looking for “a real white nigga,” ideally from Westchester. Everyone wants a piece of Andrej Pejic right now and today we hear it’s a film director.
Pejic may be the latest hot model to get the acting bug. Following in the footsteps of Agyness Deyn, Abbey Lee Kershaw (should we call them the A-list?) and several others before them, Pejic is being considered for the lead role in a French film, Frockwriter is reporting.
Pejic’s Paris agent told the blog that French director Florence Dewavrin approached and met with him about the lead role in a feature film adaptation of Honoré de Balzac’s novel Séraphita. We haven’t read the novel, but from what we can gather, the title character has some…superhuman qualities that make Pejic a clear choice for the role.
Andrej Pejic, the model we can’t seem to stop talking about, just landed his first major beauty campaign–and we’re betting it will get people talking even more.
News that Pejic would be signing a big fragrance contract first broke about a month ago on a French news channel, and we correctly predicted who it’s for: Jean Paul Gaultier, with whom Pejic has developed a bit of a designer/muse relationship. We wondered, though, whether the gender-bending model would front a men’s or women’s fragrance and today WWD confirms that Pejic will star in ads for Kokorico, Gaultier’s second men’s fragrance, which launched last summer in France.
