London Fashion Week may be the shortest of all the major fashion weeks, but it more than made up for it in its amazing street style

Street style’s a hot topic lately. So we thought after that Times profile blowing the lid off the subject and revealing how contrived and and monetizing the whole medium has become, we’d chat with pioneering street style photographer Scott Schuman (again) and get his perspective on something that he, in a way, helped create.
What makes a street style starlet? Is it her fearlessness in the face of fashion, her ability to pull off the latest runway trends? Or, is it the fact that she has a photographer trailing her around Lincoln Center, asking her to pose just-so in that sunny spot over there? This NYFW, we wanted to find out for ourselves–with the help of some electronic cat ears, a big furry hat, and a case of runway-approved pink-eye.
London fashion week is officially done, and our heads are still spinning. We covered a whirlwind of shows, hit some parties, paid a zillion pounds in cab fare, and ate a whole lot of sandwiches from Pret a Manger. In addition to all the memorable collections, we also saw a lot of wackiness–and tons of fashion “personalities.” From an actual Kate Moss sighting to models in boxes, check out the things that mystified and delighted us in London.
Mary Katrantzou was inspired by postage stamps and bank notes–and she quite literally translated these exotic patterns into garments.
Today was a perfect closing to our week of fashion madness. We saw shows from Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Brood, and Gerlan, and snapped permanent front row resident Ryan Lochte and street style stars Anna Dello Russo, Garance Doré, and Leaf Greener.
As for NYFW ending, we have mixed feelings, but BryanBoy knows how to sartorially celebrate its close. He dressed as a disco ball to mark the last day. Just click through to see the evidence.
The Clothes: With sexy clothes in black and white, Diesel Black Gold riffed on its own signature style. Models trotted out in micro-minis with dangling ties flipping about and oversized treated leather jackets. The show opened with Maria Bradley in a comparatively demure white leather mini with a large belt, buttoned up white shirt, and Read more →
It’s day five of New York fashion week, and the schedule might be exhausting, but that isn’t stopping people from bringing their style A-game. From Anna Dello Russo to Miroslava Duma, check out today’s top street walkers.
It’s Day 4 of NYFW and we’re still kicking, though we have a few blisters now. It may have been our best day ever because we saw Naomi Campbell and David Beckham in the same 24 hour span. Are there two more gorgeous people on Earth? Aside from those pretty people (and some surprises, like Madonna’s baby Lourdes Leon), we also spotted covetable clothes at DKNY, Orla Kiely, and Antonio Azzuolo, and morning margaritas at Lyn Devon.
Last night Anna Dello Russo hit the Eloise boutique at the Plaza Hotel to serve up some confections–her new H&M accessories collection, that is. We caught up with the editrix and street style fave and asked her about her collection, how the heck she gets all her clothes to NYC for NYFW, and Stefano Pilati’s new appointment at Zegna.
The Fashionista team kicked off NYFW Day 1 by taking in shows from Katie Gallagher, Creatures of the Wind, and 10 Crosby Derek Lam among others. In the process, we ran into living disco ball ADR at her H&M collab launch and the equally glittery Man Repeller. And some creative street style occasionally distracted us from the runways.
Anna Dello Russo’s accessories collection for H&M doesn’t launch until October 4, but the hype starts now, people! And because nothing about ADR is subtle–which is why we love her–she’s released this absolutely over-the-top electro pop video to promote her H&M line. We’re kinda at a loss for words.
