Fashion News Roundup: Katy Perry Confuses Balmain for Hooker Gear, Mila Kunis is On a Boat for Dior, and Terry Richardson Shoots Colorful Commercials for Aldo

Katy Perry Makes a Funny at PFW: When asked about the revealing mini dress the Smurfette-tressed pop star donned recently in Paris, she replied, “It’s either Vegas hooker or Balmain.” And upon meeting Conde Nast chairman Jonathan Newhouse, Katy blurted out, “Newhouse– much better than old house!” Maybe the windows weren’t cracked quite enough during all those blue hair dying sessions, but we can’t say we mind the entertainment. {NY Mag}

Mila Kunis Shoots for Dior: Mila’s on a boat–or should we say, un bateau. The gorg actress and latest face of Dior was spotted looking tres chic as she shot a new campaign for the Parisian fashion house on La Seine. {Telegraph}

Alexa Chung Will Host Scottish Fashion Awards: Great Britain’s greatest Brit (fashion wise, anyway) is set to bring her quirky-cool brand of humor to the 7th annual Scottish Fashion Awards, in association with InStyle, this June. The awards celebrate the best of Scotch talent, and past honorees have included Christopher Kane, Holly Fulton, and Jonathan Saunders. Here’s hoping the program allows for multiple wardrobe changes for Alexa, a la Anne Hathaway at last year’s Oscars. {InStyle}

Updated: Target Is Launching Rotating Collabs With Off-the-Beaten-Path Shops, Opening Apple Boutiques Within its Stores

As if we weren’t already obsessed with Target for giving us affordable duds from the likes of Jason Wu and Missoni, their new venture has officially pushed us over the edge: The “Shops at Target,” which the retailer announced today, will be an ongoing program that tries to recreate the ambiance and products of small boutiques within their own mega-stores and online. New shops will be introduced every two to four months. And, of course, it’ll all be affordably priced, reports NBC.

The first batch of stores partnering with Target includes The Candy Store, Cos Bar cosmetics shop, Polka Dog Bakery for dog accessories, Privet House home and The Webster; they’ll debut May 6 of this year.

Steve Jobs’ Resigns as CEO of Apple: A Tribute to His Uniform

It’s a sad day for dad jeans and turtlenecks everywhere: Steve Jobs announced yesterday that he would be stepping down as CEO of Apple Inc.

While Jobs will remain on the board at the company, he will no longer act as leader or public figure of the brand, which means we’re going to see a whole lot less of Jobs’ famous uniform: black turtlenecks, jeans, and New Balance sneakers.

Wowsers! Hermès Sales Jump 23% in the First Half of 2010

The “Apple of the luxury goods industry” can really do no wrong.

Despite the fact that people still aren’t spending the way they were back in 2006–and might not ever–Hermès has seen sales jump 23% over the first half of 2010, thanks to a surge in the Asian market.

And the company believes that the second half of the year will exceed analyst expectations.

The reason behind Hermès’ steady success? Well, good products that never really date help. But so does a high operating margin.

Do You Want Your Gadgets to Be Girly?

Do You Want Your Gadgets to Be Girly?

So, my new iPhone is scheduled to arrive in the mail today. And I’m really excited. I’ve owned my original iPhone for two years now, and I’m ready for a change. The iPhone was the first phone I ever spent more than $30 on–mostly because in the past, I’ve found most hand held devices available in the US to be downright ugly.

Which brings me to my next point: Today I received a pitch about Sony’s new designs for its VAIO EA-Series Signature Collection. The laptops, with an etched pattern called “Arabesque,” are available in pink, black, and gold.

Let me be clear. These aren’t horrible looking. But they aren’t amazing, either.

The issue? The suits running Sony–and companies like Sony–don’t get what women want.
