How major is Leelee Sobieski’s couture pose?
Four years ago, Michelle Obama launched then-little-known designer Jason Wu into the spotlight when she chose to wear his one-shouldered white gown to the Inaugural ball. Since then, his career has taken off–in addition to presenting successful and critically acclaimed ready-to-wear collections he’s launched a collection for Target and a contemporary line. Four years later, after lots of anticipation about which new young designer the First Lady might anoint with her choice of ball gown tonight, she’s chosen Wu once again.
Was Anna Wintour killing two birds with one stone at the Paris couture shows today?
Despite her heavy involvement in Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, Wintour was front row at Raf Simons’ highly-anticipated second Dior couture show in Paris during today’s Inauguration.

After the President and Michelle Obama, it seems (judging from Twitter), that Jay-Z and Beyoncé will be the second most talked about couple today. (Not that we don’t love you Joe and Jill Biden!)
The Inauguration festivities–and Michelle Obama fashion watch–have begun.
Who’s in the running towards becoming America’s Next Inauguration Designer?
We won’t know for sure what Michelle Obama will wear to the inaugural balls until Monday (unless someone who doesn’t value their job decides to spill the beans), but WWD‘s got the scoop on which designers have fielded sample requests from the White House.
No one on the list is particularly surprising.
