Cecilia Dean on Visionaire 63, the World’s First All-Metal Magazine

We’ve all heard the phrase “Nothing lasts forever,” but Visionaire is seeking to disprove that theory with its 63rd edition. Titled “Forever” and entirely made of metal, the magazine is a collaboration with G-Shock and features eight imprinted images by artists like Inez & Vinoodh, Craig McDean, Karl Lagerfeld, Yoko Ono, Richard Avedon, Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari in a metal casing–it’s the world’s first all metal magazine.

The party took the silvery metal theme and ran with it. The Clocktower Gallery was transformed into a silver playland complete with silver confetti, mylar balloons, and even glitter cocktails. Guests including Cecilia Dean, James Kaliardos, Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea, Ladyfag, Hilary Rhoda, Heidi Mount, Constance Jablonski, and Vika Gazinskaya committed to the metallic theme with glittering outfits or accessories, although no one tried harder than a girl wearing light up mouse ears.

We caught up with Visionaire founder and all-over inspirational person Cecilia Dean to get the low down on how the magazine was made and what she wishes could last forever.

Alexandre Herchcovitch Spring 2013
Reviews

Alexandre Herchcovitch Spring 2013

The Clothes: The 80s! Or rather, Boy George! Models strutted down the runway in pinpoint stilettos and oversized, plaid or checked ensembles, some with bright color hearts adorning the front. There were plenty of double breasted jackets and dresses, and huge Boy George style toppers in shocking hues. The show’s white plaid openers were the Read more →

See What Marc Jacobs, Alexa Chung, Hamish Bowles and More Fashion Folk Wore for Halloween

The past four days have been a non-stop party for a lot of fashion people here in New York. And those Halloween parties have been well-documented. The Tribeca Grand’s Overlook Hotel party, the Boom Boom Room’s fete and last night’s V party hosted by Terry Richardson drew the most fashion-heavy crowds and, as we all know, fashion people like to dress up. They also seem to like obscure references–many of their costumes were tough to identify, but still fun to look at. So, from Alexa Chung to Joan Smalls to Marc Jacobs, here are a bunch of fashion people in their Halloween best!

Our 20 Favorite Images from the Self Service Online Archives
Fashion Is Fun

Our 20 Favorite Images from the Self Service Online Archives

Yesterday, Self Service, the hit French fashion magazine with an insider tilt, relaunched its website with full archives. The goal was to create a database of everyone that’s ever been in Self Service. It’s like an online encyclopedia filled with people who are really, really important in the fashion industry. (Seriously, there’s an index.)

Now you know I love a good online archive, so I spent yesterday afternoon scouring Self Service‘s to bring you the most iconic, weirdest, and captivating photos from the book’s 16 year history. While my computer’s hard drive is now 25% covered in images of Hannelore Knuts, I’ve managed to pull out 20 photos that are particularly noteworthy.

But don’t rely on me entirely. After checking out my edit, go to Self Service’s new site and find out for yourself.

Matthew Blows It

You know a show’s bad when you can’t wait for it to be over, especially when it’s only seven minutes long. Unfortunately, that’s the way Matthew Williamson went yesterday. It wasn’t all his fault though. The ridiculous heat – sweat poured off front row faces including Olivia Palermo, Cecilia Dean, Twiggy, Yasmin LeBon, Leigh Lezark, Read more →
