“If you and I were 16th-century prostitutes wading through the Venetian filth, I could see a point to us balancing precariously on two blocks of wood.” –Lisa Armstrong wonders how clogs sneaked back into fashion.
The last two issues of Vogue Paris have been filled with initials. Carine splayed her pages with LVs, GGs, Fs, and Cs on handbags, weekenders and trunks. I’ve never owned a logo bag–save for my mini Liz Claiborne, gifted at age 5–but lately…I don’t know…that Céline bag…. Be forewarned: Logo bags are back. In the Read more →
We love Coachella for a number of reasons: 1. The music, of course. 2. The warm, sunny weather. 3. The phenomenal street-style. We were this close to making it this year, but alas we’re stuck celebrating spring in New York. That doesn’t mean we can’t dream up the most romantic outfits possible though. I finally watched Bonnie and Clyde this weekend, after years of reading about designers who are inspired by the clothes and colors of the iconic film. Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty are gorgeous — why don’t people look like that anymore? — but their wardrobe’s more attainable than their looks, which means it’s more inspiring. Read more →
When we first saw this a-line skirt on the racks of Zara during New York Fashion Week, we let out a cynical chuckle. (We’re operating in dream world, obviously.) 1. Lace tops & bell bottoms from Rochas. Read more →
At Akris, two buyers talked about the Celine show right after. buyer 1. Are you going to the show? buyer 2. I’m not. I didn’t buy any of it last season. buyer 1. I did, but I didn’t reach my $50,000 minimum. I had to swear on my life I’d go over their minimum buy Read more →
13:01 Céline’s venue is practically empty. It’s not that everyone doesn’t want to see Celine, but that the show’s being held in tennis courts in the suburbs. Thank goodness for the fashion bus. 13:05 I realize I’m blinded by love for Phoebe Philo. At this point, if she sends out burlap sacks I’ll love it. Read more →
Kenzo wins the award for best invite, maybe ever. They’ve sealed a stash of fall leaves inside a vacuumed plastic bag with chunky cardboard letters to spell out KENZO. If there are leaves on this runway, they’re officially a trend after providing crunching ground forBilly Reid and Topshop Unique. Meanwhile, the Chanel invite’s covered with Read more →
We’re about half way through the season and little leather dresses are popping up everywhere. If you’re desperate to get your hands on this spring’s leather shorts and tees from Celine and Phillip Lim, you’re probably the same girl looking forward to next falls endless leather options. Camilla Staerk and Jen Kao showed short flirty Read more →
