The 20 Sweetest Mother’s Day Instagrams From Cindy Crawford, Nicole Richie and More
As you’re probably aware, yesterday was Mother’s Day (if not, the person who gave birth to you is pissed!). And as it turns out, famous people have moms, too.

Adopted New Yorker Alexa Chung looks lovely and seasonal–if a bit surprised to be gracing the cover of Time Out New York‘s Spring issue. {Time Out New York}

New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…
See any shows we missed? Let us know!
As a seasoned livestreamer, running home from school everyday (and sometimes during lunch period) to catch a show made me feel like I was sitting front row, but without the annoying crowds.
Gifting suites and little mani/pedi/hair salon/spas–all sponsored by various companies, of course–are everywhere during New York Fashion Week, but today I got an invite for one that seriously confused me. I was scrolling through the menu of pampering treatments–hot stone massage, facial, Best Drug Rehab Toxicity Test…Wait. What? In one of the more confusing mash-up/collabs Read more →
FDA Says Most Lipsticks Contain Lead: Just when you thought it was safe to add some pigment to your pout! The U.S. Food and Drug Administration conducted a study for the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, and found that of 400 lipsticks they tested, the majority contained low levels of lead. L’Oreal’s “Color Sensational” Pink Petal lipstick had the most lead, containing 7.19 parts per million. Compare that with children’s products sold in the U.S., which are not allowed to have more that 100 parts per million. But don’t get too worried– the FDA says the levels are so miniscule, there’s really nothing to worry about. (HuffPost)
Orlando Bloom Says Wife Miranda Kerr Makes Being Beautiful “Look Easy”: He might not be spending Valentine’s day with his supermodel spouse, but Orlando Bloom had no shortage of nice words for his wife Miranda Kerr. The actor told the folks at Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O radio show that he is in awe of how quickly Kerr shed those post-baby pounds: “To have just had a baby and then got back up on to do that. I don’t think it’s easy for those girls. They make it look easy, but you know, it’s a lot of work to look good.” (Vogue UK)
Huffpost Style Compares NYFW to Your High School Cafeteria:…and they might have a point. From seating politics, to an arbitrarily determined social hierarchy, Fashion Week is kind of like a chic flashback to our high school days. (HuffPost)
Per usual, the Charlotte Ronson fall/winter 2012 show was a total friends and family affair. The front row was packed with the designer’s friends including hip hop mogul Russell Simmons, his daughter and frequent show-presence Angela Simmons, the somewhat dormant Nicki Hilton, and DJ buds Chelsea Leyland and Becka Diamond (who arrived together and giggling minutes before the show started).
Once the lights went down Ronson sent over 33 looks down the runway that, like last season, were a bit on the eclectic side. I looked to the line-sheet for some pointers, but there weren’t any pithy sayings or obscure literary quotes for guidance. So if I attempted to sum it up:

For Resort 2012, Imitation designer Tara Subkoff went back to her cinematic roots, directing a short silent film starring a glittering bevy of it-girls, from Becka Diamond to Nicole Trunfio, Lissy Trullie, Karima Adebibe, and Cecile Winckler.
Many of these same ladies–as well as requisite sexy actors Marc Ruffalo and Liev Schrieber–mixed and mingled at the Jane Hotel’s bar last night, where Subkoff showed the short in a continual loop. (Charlotte Ronson, Chrissie Miller, Shanea Grimes, Sky Ferreira, Karen Elson, and Jen Brill were there, too.)
Several were wearing the Imitation resort/holiday line, a collection of flouncy dresses and high-waisted trousers, all with a vintage feel.

New York Fashion Week is officially over. Soon, we will be sharing with you the very best from London, but for now it is time for a recap. After much deliberation, we present our ten favorite New York collections. Enjoy!
The new Fashion’s Night Out website launched today and it’s pretty impressive. You can browse and search every New York event listing and even create your own itinerary.
You can also narrow the 51 pages of listings down by neighborhood, category (men, women, beauty) and/or specialty (block party, celebrity, food). But if you’re looking for, say, ten or so events that are most likely worth checking out, look no further. We reviewed each and every page to bring you the ten FNO events we’re most looking forward to.
