Ireland Baldwin’s in Vanity Fair, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Side-Bum Helps Antonio Berardi, and Katy Perry Reveals Her New Fragrance

As much as she doesn’t want us to say this… Ireland Baldwin looks an awful lot like her mom in her new Vanity Fair shoot. {E! Online}

Estée Lauder is releasing its first new scent in a decade. Called “Modern Muse,” the print campaign features none other than Ms. Muse herself–Arizona, that is. {WWD, Subscription required.}

The side-ass Antonio Berardi dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore to an Iron Man 3 premiere is giving the designer a hefty–and much welcomed–boost in business. {Telegraph}

Speaking of sheer outfits… if you never thought you’d want to see what Ellen DeGeneres looks like wearing Cher’s infamous “If I Could Turn Back Time” bodysuit, trust us: You do. {US Weekly}

We Imagine Cher’s Reaction to Gareth Pugh’s Show (Because She Was There)

So, um, Cher showed up at Paris fashion week.

Cher, people.

She sat front row at Gareth Pugh and when we found out (we were not there) we immediately went to Cher’s twitter, because ever since Gawker tipped us off about the awesomeness of her Twitter feed, we’ve been hooked. Transfixed is maybe a better word for it.

Sadly, she has not tweeted about Pugh’s voluminous-gothic-black-crow collection yet, so we mined her Twitter to pull a few tweets that we imagine might describe her reaction:

Oh, wardrobe malfunctions. They happen to best of us, politicians included. English Prime Minister David Cameron mistakenly slipped a bit of nip last night. {HuffPo}

At the premiere for Breaking Dawn, Rob Pattinson shared the story of a rather awkward first day on set that ended with a butt massage. {US Weekly}

Keira Knightley bared her breasts for Mario Testino and Allure magazine and let it be known that she doesn’t mind them being photoshopped, as long as they look perky. {Allure}

We Remember Dick Clark With a Look Back at the Amazing Fashion on American Bandstand

Dick Clark (aka “America’s Oldest Teenager”) passed away yesterday at the age of 82. As the host of American Bandstand and the perennial harbinger of New Year’s Eve, Dick Clark was there for a lot of pop culture moments. While so many people today are remembering American Bandstand for the musical acts and as a nostalgic reminder of a really transitional time in America, we’re looking at it as an amazing lesson in fashion history.

From that wasp-waisted 1950′s silhouette that ruled at the show’s inception to the bell bottoms (which plague us still) of the show’s 1970s heyday, take a peek at the fashion cycle (seriously, it all comes back) on the American Bandstand stage. A picture of Cher in 1982 wearing leopard print pants? Pretty sure we see that outfit 10 times a day near our office here in Soho.

Click through for to see Dick Clark through the years and some of the musical acts that defined American Bandstand–and, of course, what they wore.

Last Night’s Parties: Maripol Celebrates Her Legacy, Chloe Sevigny Celebrates Hugo Boss

One of the people Lady Gaga just name checked as a seminal “author in the library of pop culture” hosted a book signing last night. No, it wasn’t Prince, Cindy Crawford, Marilyn Monroe, or Francis Bacon (Gaga’s words, not ours).

It was Maripol, stylist to ’80s statement-makers Debbie Harry, Grace Jones, Cher, and Madonna. Steven Meisel may have shot that iconic Like A Virgin album cover, but Maripol’s the one who slipped Madonna into the rubber bracelets and crucifix jewelry that sparked a trillion copycats. So, yah, we’d say Gaga gushing over Maripol’s cultural legacy is pretty on point.

While Maripol certainly had a heavy hand in fashion history, the woman’s still very much relevant today. Last year, she designed neon t-shirts and rubber jewelry for Marc by Marc; last night, she continued her latest moment in the sun (or torrential downpour, as luck would have it) with a jam-packed signing of her Little Red Riding Hood.

If You Haven’t Seen Burlesque, Here’s a Tip: The Swarovski-Studded Costumes are the Best Thing About The Film (Other Than Cher, of Course)

LONDON–The Empire in Leicester Square played host last night to the UK premiere of Burlesque, a so-so sparkle-n-sequins musical starring Cher and Christina Aguilera and an army of gorgeous Swarovski-dripping bustiers designed by Michael Kaplan. The BAFTA award winning costume designer is to thank for trend-spawning films like Flashdance, Blade Runner, Pearl Harbor and the Versace and Marc Jacobs-influencing Fight Club…the man’s got range.

The sparkly, indoor-use-only outfits, aside from Christina’s undeniable set of pipes, were the glue-gun that kept the film together. The true stunners included: six variations of delicate hand-linked gold chains with tiny Swarovskis whipping around in the finale; Christina’s high collared string of pearls “dress” that whipped right off her in one number; black velvet bodysuits with 1930s-inspired sequined hands over the bum and boobs. The costumes, like the score, drew inspiration from every era from the ’20s to the ’80s and will undoubtedly boost sales at Agent Provocateur. We also wouldn’t be surprised if some girls abandon the acrobatics of pole-dancing lessons for the glam athleticism of burlesque.
