Christopher Bailey left little to the imagination for Resort ’14 at Burberry Prorsum, as lean skirts and dresses rendered in delicate crochets and embroideries grew shockingly sheer. Constructed on full coverage briefs and bodysuits respectively, they seemed more poised for tweet-worthy red carpet turns than the occasions that we find ourselves regularly attending.
It’s too bad Christopher Bailey’s fall 2013 Burberry show missed Valentine’s Day by only about four days. Dubbed ‘Trench Kiss’ by the designer, it was the most romantic, loved-up collection we’ve seen from the designer. Perhaps it was a love note to all of Bailey’s adoring fans–the front row included A-listers like Douglas Booth, Olivia Palermo, Melanie Laurent, Michelle Dockery, Rita Ora, Freida Pinto, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Kate Beckinsale.
There were hearts and leopard prints, which gave a quirky, girly twist to the brand’s signature trenches and daywear.
For Pre-Fall 2013, Christopher Bailey’s lean and lithe Burberry gal was in full swing, bathed in a malty palette of camel, cordovan, black, and birch.
Often, when someone meets a designer or famous person, we’re bombarded with stories of how ‘real’ these mythical characters actually are in the flesh. But Burberry‘s Christopher Bailey is here to debunk those ridiculous relatable fables once and for all–and we are so, so grateful.

Holland’s Next Top Model Winner Wins Lawsuit Against ELITE Models: Well, here’s some good news: Ananda Marchildon, who was dropped from ELITE Model Management for being “too hippy,” just won a lawsuit against the agency. ELITE dropped Marchildon after she failed to get her hip width down two centimeters to the preferred 90cm. They withheld a chunk of her Top Model winnings, awarding her only $13,000 out of the $98,500 she was promised. An Amsterdam court ruled that since Marchildon was signed to the agency with her enormous 92cm hips, “Elite could therefore not demand she reach a hip size of 90 centimeters.” ELITE has been ordered to pay her the $85,000 she is due. Pre-fall usually offers a glimpse of what’s in a designer’s head for fall, and Christopher Bailey is clearly having a sedate, tweedy, ladylike reverie. And for a fashion house whose bread and butter is the trench coat, Burberry probably breathes a little easier when there’s a nip in the air. The coats are always the anchor of a Burberry collection, and this one includes a lovely mix of wool and tweed with a bit of mink thrown in for good measure. With muted, dusty colors like mustard, blue sage, and charcoal, you can imagine a bunch of people hanging out at an English country house wearing this collection.
