The Debate About ‘Slut Clothes,’ Formichetti Moves On From Mugler, and Dressing Like the Women of Mad Men

What’s In A Word? We take issue with T Magazine’s dismissal of “slut clothes” and take a look back at decades of so-called “slut style.”

And Speaking of “Slut Clothes”: That dress that Julia Roberts wore as Vivian in Pretty Woman is hot stuff, with Emma Watson donning the look on the latest issue of British GQ and versions of the dress selling out fast.

Look Fresh-Off-The-Runway for Prom! We pick out prom-perfect dresses inspired by looks fresh off the Spring 2013 runways. And the best thing? They won’t break the bank.

I Spy With My Fashion Eye… A Rip-Off! Satirical blog Humor Chic’s “No Fakes” campaign suggests Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada may have been a little too inspired by some vintage designs.

Courtney Love Having ‘Gasms’ Over Saint Laurent Fall 2013, Says Marc Jacobs ‘Never Got Grunge Right’

When we saw Hedi Slimane’s latest show for Saint Laurent we immediately thought: Courtney Love would be all over this collection. Turns out we weren’t the only ones.

The singer took time out of her busy schedule of being Courtney Love to tweet at Hedi Slimane: “having gasms at the idea of rich ladies buying what we used to wear, finally someone got the actual look exact, no beanies.”

Just who exactly is she referring to who got the grunge look wrong? Oh, just you know, Marc Jacobs.

Courtney Love’s New Clothing Line is Made Out of 30-Year-Old Moldy Vintage

Courtney Love’s clothing line has certainly been a long time coming. The songstress/grunge goddess first announced she would be doing a line, called Never the Bride, nearly four years ago–but it wasn’t until 2011, when Love finally got a licensee, that it looked like the line might actually happen.

Well, happen it did–and now, after years of waiting, we finally get to see some of the collection.

Spring Beauty Trend Alert: 90s Goth Lipstick (And How To Get It, Because You Know You Want It)

We’ve been noticing something really strange on the red carpet this spring–starlets and A-listers alike have been digging out their darkest lipstick. Forget about pretty berry, bright pinks, and cool corals (spring trends, all). It’s all about goth, 90s, Courtney Love-circa-the-Hole-era wine pouts. And here’s a secret: We like it. The Met Gala was a Read more →

A Peek Into The Bizarre World of Courtney Love: The singer gives good friend and Hole drummer Scott Lipps a tour of her closet, and talks, among other things, about her new line Never the Bride, what designers she’s really into and of course, her late husband, Kurt Cobain. The best part, though, is when she says Karl Lagerfeld told her “You are not getting laid in a tutu,” one time at the Mercer. Amen to that! {Stylelist}

More Stunning Photos of Frances Bean Emerge, Is She Destined to Become a Style Icon?

Until very recently, we didn’t know much about Frances Bean Cobain other than that she just turned 19 and is the daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain. Now, we also know that she’s gorgeous, thanks to two sets of sultry photos that have recently hit the internet.

Hedi Slimane‘s were the first to catch our attention. The black and white photos, which show Frances Bean covered in tattoos and smoking, are haunting and intense and shed a new light on the famous offspring. The fashion world was particularly dazzled by the photos and she’s already being called an ‘it girl.’ Her mother told the Observer, of a recent Times article, “Ugh, I didn’t like how they called her an ‘It Girl.’ It’s tacky. It’s not like she’s gonna do Nylon.”

Just before Frances’ 19th birthday, another set of photographs emerged by fine art photographer Rocky Schenck–these ones more romantic and old Hollywood and less rock and roll than Hedi’s, but equally beautiful.

Both photographers said the photos were taken at Cobain’s request, which is interesting. Does she just admire the work of these particular photographers or does she want photos of herself out there for a particular reason? As far as we know, she hasn’t shown interest in anything other than her own art, so the former seems more likely than any quest for fame.

Frances is obviously having a moment, but will it last?
