Daisy Lowe

“Once I got there, there was no point in being afraid,” said Daisy Lowe about her Oyster cover shoot in which she had to mingle with live snakes.

Photographed by Will Davidson with creative direction by Stevie Dance, this editorial isn’t messing around. Lowe channels bad girl Sixties brides (you know, the kind to wed without pants) and proves that she might just be the sexiest Brit-girl around. (Sorry, Pippa.)

We got a preview of her interview with Zac Bayly in Oyster where she talks about the term “It-Girl” (she hates it), her 2010 Pirelli shoot with Terry Richardson (she loved it), and prancing around in her underwear. (You guess.)

Vionnet Has New Creative Directors: It’s just been announced that Rodolfo Paglialunga is out as designer of Vionnet. He is credited with restarting the sleepy French brand and the decision is reportedly mutual. He will be replaced by Italian twin sisters Barbara and Lucia Croce, who we know absolutely nothing about. {WWD}

Florence Welch’s Couture Dance Party: Fashion’s favorite Brit songstress Florence Welch wears gorgeous couture looks from Valentino and Elie Saab in Florence and the Machine’s latest video for “Shake it up.” We can’t id the red dress, but it’s super pretty as well. {YouTube via Fashin}

Karl Lagerfeld’s Coke Moment: In this hilarious video from Style.com’s twitter, a man in a suit carries a glass of Coca-cola on a silver tray over to Karl Lagerfed, waits for him to take a sip, and then walks away. It’s probably the best thing I’ve seen all fashion month. {@styledotcom}

Oh la la! Très chic looks from some of our favorite celebrities at Paris Fashion Week. {Fabsugar}

Author of “How to Walk in High Heels”, Camilla has written for the UK Times, the Telegraph, Bazaar, and Time Style and Design in the US. She also covered the shows for Vogue UK online, reviewing all cities and hemlengths, and also assisted in the Galliano Studios. Attending fashion shows long before she was invited, London is where she started as a lowly Cinderella Fashionista. This season she is very excited to share some of her adventures with you.

Meet London’s It girls. They’re the ones designers long to dress and they’re as happy in the market or clubs as they are on the red carpet. With a different paparazzi culture (and no pesky Kardashians or Real Housewives), these are the girls who fill the gossip mags and blogs across the pond.

The British Fashion Council has just announced the nominees for the 2011 British Fashion Awards, which are essentially the U.K.’s answer to our prestigious CFDA’s. The ceremony, which is scheduled for November 28, is meant to recognize the most influential people in fashion today and also promote the growth of British fashion.

With all the attention the U.K. has been getting lately for that stylish princess of theirs and being dubbed the “new fashion capital,” British fashion is definitely more relevant than ever this year. That may be why the BFC has decided to re-introduce the Red Carpet award, which “gives recognition to a British designer who is creating global awareness of their designs in the media.”

From Kim Jones to Stella McCartney to Erdem, here are all the nominees:

Ever notice how sometimes the most stylish girls at fashion parties are behind the DJ booth? Well, for the most part, that’s no happy accident. Over the past few years, it seems a crop of young, well-dressed fashion girls has emerged as the go-to djs for fashion parties. Brands these days want girls who look the part. What’s interesting about them is that almost none of them are just djs for a living. Most have some other role in the fashion or entertainment industry that occupies their daylight hours, while their nights are spent looking cute with headphones as their main accessory. Tonight, for example, we’re headed to a party that model/actress/musician Solange Knowles is dj’ing.

The following 10 girls have varying degrees of actual DJ talent, but what they do have in common is an innate sense of style that we all want to emulate. Here’s a little guide to who these girls are.

Watch How New Yorkers Really Feel About Fascinators: A few journalists walked around the city in fascinators asking people on the street what they thought. The responses are hilarious. {The Cut}

Daisy Lowe Covers Playboy Covered In Daisies: Get it? It’s like, her name. The model looks really hot-girl-next-door in a PVC swimsuit spotted with her namesake flower. Though kinda awesome, this is a September issue we probably won’t be buying. {Telegraph}

Sarah Jessica Parker Has ANOTHER Cover?? SJP is on September’s Marie Claire… this might be the oversaturation point. {Fashion Gone Rogue}

Gucci Launches New iPad/iPhone App: Called “Gucci Style by Gucci”, it’s made to emulate a print mag with a “strong editorial focus” and tons of lifestyle and cultural features. There is, of course, e-commerce (with a 360-degree view of the clothes), but also samples of Giannini’s vinyl collection, advice for Italian vacations, videos of artisan’s craftwork, live streams of their social media sites and an “about me” of the house’s history. Paradise for those who can’t get enough Gucci. {WWD, Subscription Required}

American Medical Association Finally Addresses Photoshop: The AMA wants to work out restrictions in the advertising industry to “discourage the altering of photographs in a manner that could promote unrealistic expectations of appropriate body image.” It’s a start–could we hope for magazine editorials and covers next? {Jezebel}

Karlie Kloss’ Model Competition: The model is teaming up with Mother Model Management, who discovered the 18-year-old in Wisconsin in 2005, to hold a nationwide search for the “next top model” that will end in a charity fashion show and event, hosted by Kloss. {Telegraph}

Giorgio Armani Is Not A Fan of Prada: In another case of designer-on-designer hate, Armani bashed Miuccia Prada on her Hong Kong stock debut, saying it was just a way to cover debts. He also said both she and fellow Italians Dolce and Gabbana often turns out “ugly” clothes. {WWD}

PARIS–The photo pit at l’Espace Ephemere in the Tuileries, impatient with the delay at Viktor and Rolf, began singing, shouting, whistling (there was some raising of middle fingers, too)–anything to spur the lights to dim and the show to start. As if to answer the photogs’ lewd taunts in kind, a draw bridge lowered, angry militaristic music began pumping through the tent, and red-faced models marched down the runway. It was a little scary.

I would not want to do battle against Viktor and Rolf’s army of lady warriors. Their armor–leather or stiff chiffon-plated dresses with shoulders that were exaggerated or cut out completely, high collars, and sharply pleated skirts–looked impenetrable and almost reptilian. Black stockings had blood red seams running up the back and the voice against the percussive soundtrack pleaded “hurt” over and over. I don’t know who will wear this stuff (maybe Daisy Lowe, La Roux or Leigh Lezark, all of whom sat front row??) but I do not want to mess with them.

LONDON–And best bash of LFW (so far, and yes, slight intoxication may tint our estimation) goes to the Love magazine for Alexander Wang party at Liberty.

Daisy Lowe was there, dancing up a storm in a Mark Fast crop top and pencil skirt. When Beth Ditto forgot the lyrics during her a capella version of “I Will Always Love You,” she called on none other than Alexa Chung to complete the phrase.

Swoon.

Jimmy Choo For Dudes: All the men out there who have ever envied a woman’s shoe collection can now sport their own Jimmy Choo’s. Tamara Mellon has designed a men’s line that includes a range of high tops, biker boots, gentleman’s evening slippers, and even those croc Hunter wellies. The collection will be available to order online in July.

An Abrupt End to Tao Comme Des Garcons: Tao Kurihara’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection shown in Paris last October will unfortunately be her last. The designer will instead focus on the Tricot Comme Des Garcons label shown twice a year in Tokyo.
