A handful of Dannijo “girl crushes”–cool chicks that designer sisters Danielle and Jodie Snyder love and feature on their blog–came to pay their respects at the brand’s presentation yesterday at the Jane Hotel.
Among them was model and model rights champion Coco Rocha. She took time out from gleefully tweeting and Instagramming (the girl loves her social media) to tell us how she feels about the CFDA’s controversial partnership with Organic Avenue and the differences between her, Naomi Campbell, and Karolina Kurkova on new model reality TV show The Face.
Hitchcock, the Oscar-vehicle starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitch and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, hit select theaters this past weekend. There hasn’t been much fashion buzz about the film aside from Scarlett Johansson’s Psycho-themed V cover, which focused more on her scream than her clothes (as well it should have), but we’ve always had a soft-spot for the fashion in Hitchcock’s films.

Jennifer Lopez and the Nip Slip That Wasn’t: Despite Twitter buzz to the contrary, Jennifer Lopez’s stylist Mariel Haenn insists that a nip slip Sunday night just wasn’t possible for J. Lo. “While the dress did give the illusion of sheer-ness, joke’s on everyone who wishes they saw something!” scoffs the stylist, adding that the gown had “special cups” to prevent any slips. {People}
Grading the Men: As it turns out, the men didn’t get very high accolades at last night’s red carpet. Many committed tuxedo sins, like pants that were too long (George Clooney) or a business-like tie with a formal jacket (Antonio Banderas). Katy Perry Covers Interview: Proving that the best revenge is living well (and looking HOT), Katy Perry channels her inner siren on the upcoming cover of Interview. It’s definitely different than we’re used to seeing Perry – more sexy and less saccharine. We can’t wait for the full spread! {ONTD}
Crowd pleaser Coach hosted last night’s Summer Party on the High Line. There we found custom monogrammed luggage tags, Dan Humphrey (aka Gossip Girl‘s Penn Badgley) rocking some chest hair, and possibly even more exciting (depending on your appreciation for male cleavage): Grey Goose-spiked ice pops.
After accidentally trekking our best shoes through the park’s new water feature–warning: look down or you’ll get soaked–we stumbled upon a rouge-lipped Paz de la Huerta dressed in a black Gucci number and a re-issued Coach bag. It was the Boardwalk Empire star’s first time in the park since its re-opening, “I used to come here as a child before it was the High Line,” she told us. As for the attention her lipstick’s been getting these days, she said, “The whole thing is ridiculous, it has nothing to do with the color of my clothing. Tonight I’m not wearing a red dress, and I would never match this with black lipstick.”
For the second installment of our new feature, “How I’m Making It,” we present Jodie and Danielle Snyder, the sisters behind DANNIJO jewelry. Jodie, 28, and Danielle, 25, quit their jobs to launch their line in December 2007, and Bergdorf Goodman picked up DANNIJO in March of 2008. Today, Dannoji is sold everywhere from Henri Bendel’s to Harvey Nichols Hong Kong, and has found fans in Natalie Portman, Blake Lively and Beyonce.
Why jewelry?
Danielle: When my sister and I were teenagers we found our dad’s medical tool kit and taught ourselves how to do wire work with them and started making jewelry for all our friends.
Jodie: When I was in college we had opened a boutique in Jacksonville, Florida–where we’re from–to sell our jewelry. We noticed that we had a following and that it was well received.
We love Coachella for a number of reasons: 1. The music, of course. 2. The warm, sunny weather. 3. The phenomenal street-style. We were this close to making it this year, but alas we’re stuck celebrating spring in New York. That doesn’t mean we can’t dream up the most romantic outfits possible though.
