Jason Wu Fall 2012: China Three Ways

Jason Wu Fall 2012: China Three Ways

Jason Wu is obviously a hot commodity right now because of his Target collection; his name-recognition is at a high point. But let’s not forget what he does best: He makes uber-luxurious clothes. Yesterday’s show may been one of Jason Wu’s strongest shows, both literally and figuratively.

I heard over and over about how the Jason Wu girl is “strong” this season. The high ponytails (secured with bondage tape procured from a sex shop, no less) were meant to look like a horse’s tail. Lead hair stylist Odile Gilbert said, “It’s a very strong ponytail because the girl at Jason Wu is a fighter.” The runway show confirmed the suspicions I had backstage that she could definitely kick my ass, and look chic doing it. (We hope Shailene Woodley, sitting front row with the Elle team, was paying attention. She needs a victory on the red carpet.)

The show started with drum beats and a huge red door, meant to look like the door of the Forbidden City.

The 25 Best Fashion Editorials of 2011

It happens every year: Our ever-growing pile of fashion magazines inches higher with each passing month, and by the time December rolls around, we can barely sift through the hundreds of stylish images we bookmarked for inspiration. 2011 was no exception, and in a year that celebrated retro supermodels, androgyny, vivid colors, and plenty of experimentation in the beauty department, choosing our favorites was particularly difficult.

The best editorials of the year ran the gamut from huge ensemble casts of blue-chip models styled by greats like Katie Grand and Carine Roitfeld, to intimate, one-on-one portraits of our favorite girls like Lindsey Wixson and Daria Werbowy. The acid brights that dominated the spring collections allowed for some pretty trippy trend stories last season, but the fall glossies featured much moodier imagery, with a number of gorgeous spreads in black and white.

Here are the editorials from 2011 that will stay tacked up on our walls and fill our inspiration boards well into the new year—and beyond.

Watch: Lindsey Wixson and Daphne Groeneveld are Donatella Versace’s Puppets in Creepy New Versace for H&M Commercial

It appears that the first Versace for H&M TV commercial has been released in full and it might be the most fun TV commercial we’ve seen since Chanel’s finger dancing. H&M’s creative director joked in a behind-the-scenes teaser that they must have used “all the gold plate in London” for the film and that seems Read more →

Versace for H&M: From the Runway to the Red Carpet to Mother Effing Prince, Here’s All You Need to Know About Last Night’s Spectacular

Last night Versace and H&M pulled out all the stops–and we mean all of them–to put on a runway show and party to celebrate their collaboration, which hits stores on November 19. Pier 57 was transformed into “Versace Hall” complete with a mirror-walled cocktail lounge (made to resemble Versace’s show space in Milan) and a wood paneled runway in a pattern that seemed to mimic Versace’s Greek fret motif (and also ensured everyone got a front row seat).

Everyone except Anna Wintour was there (and maybe she was and we just didn’t see her?): performers Prince and Nicki Minaj (wearing an enormous green wig and sequined Versace for H&M) sat to watch the show; celebs, all dressed in h-to-t Versace for H&M, included Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba, Chace Crawford, Chloe Moretz, Jennifer Hudson and Alan Cumming; there were designers aplenty from Joseph Altuzarra to Alexander Wang to Christopher Kane; in keeping with the collection’s ’90s theme, ’90s supermodels Linda Evangelista and Helena Christensen were there; and there were too many stylists and editors and socialites to count.

“It looks good,” Minaj told us about the collection as she walked the red carpet. “All the stuff they brought to my room today I was like, ‘I’m keeping that!’ Minaj confessed that she fell in her platform Versaces during the filming for her Superbass video but she said, “I’m not taking them off, fashion is pain, and I’m keeping them on, and Superbass went on to be such a big song, so maybe Versace’s good luck.”

To say we love LOVE is an understatement. We’re kinda obsessed.

Watching the covers for issue six trickle in was half the fun, so we’re a bit sad all eight LOVE covers have been revealed. All total we’ve got Elle Fanning, Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, Lara Stone, Kristen McMenamy, Mariacarla Boscono, Nyasha Matonhodze and Daphne Groeneveld all crying, sans makeup, on the covers of the coveted fashion book. So now the question is: which one is our favorite? Which one is yours?

All of LOVE’s Issue Six Covers Revealed

The LOVE buzz just won’t stop! Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz’s covers debuted on models.com this week, which has only fueled the LOVE speculation: who else would cover the beloved fashion book? While we guessed that Hailee Steinfeld would be next (Elle+Chloe+Hailee is kind of a thing), we were certain we’d have to wait until Friday to find out.

But no! Fashion’s favorite man about town Derek Blasberg convinced Katie Grand to spill the beans last night at dinner. Lucky for us, Derek couldn’t keep the news to himself, so he Tweeted it around 9pm last night. Thanks D!

According to Derek’s Tweets the models for the other five unreleased LOVE covers are:
