It’s Labor Day, and while there are no longer any fashion or beauty rules, we’re sick of pastels and neons on our nails. Nail polish brands, from designers to the drugstore, are offering tons of darker and duskier options for fall that feel fresh and right for the upcoming season.

Late last week, Dior released their latest campaign for Diorskin starring none other than Black Swan beauty Natalie Portman.
Portman seems like a natural choice for the luxury skincare brand–she’s beautiful, recently won an Oscar and has already worked with the brand as the face of Dior Cherie. Only, the actress and new momy has a troubled history with the brand. Portman was one of the few to take a stand against John Galliano following the anti-Semitic incidences that got him fired from Dior, saying in a statement released in March: “I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”
Dior has since cut ties with Galliano, so Portman hasn’t exactly gone against her words. But after manning the fashion house for over a decade, Galliano’s name is forever linked to the label. And since this Diorskin campaign must have been shot months ago…it all feels a little…strange.

Azzadine Alaia Was Called To Take Over For Galliano: He was flattered but declined (he is in his 70s, after all). However, as the Financial Times observes, given Alaia’s rejection of the industry’s hyper-speed and the accompanying pressures, this may indicate that Dior is looking to change its ways. {Financial Times}

It’s Easter this weekend, and that means miracles (if you believe in that sort of thing), chocolate, and lots and lots of pastels. Tweeters at Style.com said that they didn’t want to “add to the Dior rumor mill” yesterday when they revealed that “people in Paris are asking, why has the Lanvin team been in tears all day?”
But of course they did, and now everyone is wondering why Jason Wu was sitting front row at Lanvin. When asked by WWD, the young American designer simply said, “Mrs. Wang asked me.” Mrs. Wang is the owner of the Lanvin fashion house.
Whether or not this means anything is difficult to determine. So I’m going to put my common sense hat on for a moment. Common sense tells me that Riccardo Tisci is definitely, definitely the next Dior designer. Sources inside the house of Dior–sources whom I trust–have told me as much. But it’s all just rumors, right? Even Derek Blasberg‘s “confirmation” is still just a rumor. We won’t have a solid answer until LVMH releases an official statement.
