Gisele Has Angels on her Side: Nearly a week after the big game, this whole Gisele-is-a-poor-sport debacle still has some steam. Days after Giants’ running back Brandon Jacobs told Tom Brady’s supermodel wife to “stay cute and shut up,” Gisele’s former Victoria’s Secret Angel compadres have come to her defense. Quoth Adriana Lima, “Leave her alone!” {Vogue UK}

They may be flawless supermodels now but even the Victoria’s Secret Angels were once inexperienced teenagers going through the typical awkward milestones–first kisses and all.

To get you in the Valentine’s Day spirit (which we tend to forget during Fashion Week madness), watch Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge and Lais Ribeiro–all scantily clad in VS undies–talk about the first time they ever smooched a guy. Turns out that being incredibly hot does not automatically make you a good kisser: Doutzen says her first kiss was “not so good,” while Lily cops to feeling embarrassed and running away afterwards. Erin’s first kiss, on the other hand, lead to a very, very sticky situation literally).

We won’t give the whole thing away but we have to say, hearing about their first kiss snafus, is making us feel a whole lot better about our teenage awkwardness.

15 years ago, all a model had to do was show up and look pretty. But in today’s social media-saturated world, a great pair of legs and killer cheekbones do not a supermodel make. More and more, a model’s earning power is derived not only by how many shows she walked or magazines she covered, but how many Twitter followers she has, according to the AP.

Name recognition has always been a powerful asset in a model’s career, but whereas in the past the public mostly got to know the industry’s biggest players through countless covers, campaigns, gossip columns and paparazzi photos, today’s social media has enabled models to make names for themselves. Now, any business-savvy model can get her name out there–and control her brand–through Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook.

Adriana Lima is proving to be the break-out star of Victoria’s Secret’s holiday videos. We watched her flub her way through “Jingle Bells,” and in the latest installment she talks New Year’s resolutions, which include taking speech classes to “get rid of” her accent. (Aw, don’t do it, Adriana!) Adriana is joined in the video by Erin Heatherton, Candice Swanepoel, Lindsay Ellingson, Doutzen Kroes and Lily Aldridge. They all reveal their New Year’s resolutions, which range from having more fun (Candice) to meeting the Dalai Lama (Adriana). The talk then turns to panties–specifically what color they’ll be wearing on New Year’s Eve and the significance of their choices. Read more »

There are truly no words to describe this video of Victoria’s Secret model Doutzen Kroes dancing, stripping and rolling around on the floor, all while jingling some bells and belting Mariah Carey’s classic “All I Want for Christmas is You” (our favorite). And unlike that time she sang “Jingle Bells” with her fellow Angels for a Victoria’s Secret promo, she actually seems to know all the words. How she does this while looking like a gorgeous model and not a complete lunatic is one of those model mysteries we’ll never be able to solve. Read more »

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is airing tonight (on CBS, 10/9C), and it’s always a spectacle of physical perfection. We don’t know if this will make you feel any better, but we dug up some pictures of some of the well-known Angels, and while–yes, they were obviously adorable–they’ve also had their share of bad bowl haircuts, gangly limbs, and mom-imposed fashion. But they’ve all emerged from their cocoons to earn their Angel wings (um, sorry for mixing metaphors there) and we’re excited to see the whole extravaganza tonight.

Click through to see the Angels back when they were mere mortals.

Adriana Lima: OK, so she was pretty much always very attractive.

Ugg-ly Footwear Losing Stock Value The end of a fashion epidemic?? Stock in the comfy-yet-unfortunate looking booties has fallen a nearly unheard of 39% in the past week, and Crocs aren’t doing so hot either. It’s time to put them away, people. Forever. {Racked}

Tom Ford’s Documentary Airs Next Week : Tom Ford: Visionaries will air October 23 on OWN, offering a rare “intimate” look at Ford’s creative process and daily life. He apparently takes more than three baths a day. While we’re really excited about this doc, we’re secretly wishing this were a segment of now-defunct Oprah Winfrey Show– if only to hear Opie belt out a satisfying “Tooooom FoooOOOooord!!!” {Marie Claire}

Fashionable TwitPics of the Week: Revealing phone pics of Kim K. doing hookah, Hilary Rhoda’s store bought cookie dough, and Lily Donaldson on a very tiny horse. There’s even one of Doutzen Kroes doing her best Scarlett Johannson impression… well, almost. {FabSugar}

Chanel Model on France’s Dancing With The Stars Male model, Karl’s muse, and sometimes-”pop star” Baptiste Giabiconi is a contestant on France’s version of DWTS. He’s often shirtless… and wearing body glitter. Wonder if Karl tunes in every week for inspiration? {OhLaLa}

Well, this is refreshing. ELLE‘s October issue (which drops September 20) features actual models on the cover–and not just any models. They’re Victoria’s Secret angels, all wearing swimwear. On four separate covers, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, and Chanel Iman are styled to the hilt in 80s inspired swimwear. It gets a little racier inside, with just as many accessories and a lot more skin showing in the editorial. Read more »

Smell Like Royalty: A Hamburg perfumer claims that the royal family commissioned her to create the official wedding fragrances–one called Catherine that has notes of magnolia and rose, and one called William that’s sporty and direct. The cheesy packaging includes a locket with a photo of the couple. {BellaSugar}

H&M Makes Waste Fashionable: H&M got all sustainable and created a mini collection called “Waste” out of fabric leftover from the Lanvin for H&M collection. Shame it’s nowhere near as cute as the Lanvin collection. {Nitrolicious}

Oscar de la Renta Is Not a Fan of Michelle Obama’s McQueen: We loved Mrs. O’s McQueen dress that she wore to the state dinner the other night (so did Cathy Horyn and Robin Givhan) but Mr. de la Renta thought it was the wrong choice. “My understanding is that the visit was to promote American-Chinese trade — American products in China and Chinese products in America. Why do you wear European clothes?” de la Renta told WWD. Michelle Obama has yet to wear ODLR but she did wear a dress by his son Moises once. Hmm…. {WWD subscription required}

It’s a Boy for Doutzen! VS Angel Doutzen Kroes gave birth to son Phyllon today. It’s her first child with husband Sunnery James. He weighed in at 8 lbs–not even close to fellow angel Miranda Kerr’s Flynn who weighed nearly 10 pounds at birth. Maybe they can still be friends. {Modelinia}
