Dries Van Noten

Replacing the fired John Galliano at Dior is arguably the biggest decision Bernard Arnault will ever make. (Mostly because there was less riding on the position when he first hired Galliano in the Nineties.)

Since Galliano’s reign at the storied Paris fashion house was a time of major financial growth, Arnault needs to choose someone who can continue on that commercial path without compromising design. It’s a tough one, mostly because many of the designers proven capable of this are already stationed in plum creative director roles. Will Arnault look outside LVMH to replace Galliano, or will he make some swaps within the empire? We’ve crafted some educated guesses.

Stepping into Brood’s Spring 2011 presentation was like stepping into an elite club where only the fashion industries heavy-hitters were welcome. Sally Singer, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, and Mario Grauso were all in attendance.

Honestly, nothing less should have been expected. After all, Brood is is the brainchild of Serkan Sarier, a graduate from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp–one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. Some notable grads of the Royal Academy include Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, and Martin Margiela, so you can imagine what editors expect from an Antwerp scholar.

Though the tribal print trend seems to be heading out the door, there is something so cute and chic about the ikat print specifically that makes us want to wear it in as many ways as possible. It’s been on a few runways recently, including as Dries Van Noten, Gucci, Marc and Balenciaga. See above for our inspiration and click through for some more accessible examples that you can buy right now.

Carol Schuster is the Worldwide Managing Director for Global Brand Management at Ogilvy & Mather, which means she has traveled the world and amassed an extraordinary [...]

In a perfect world I’d just wrap up all of Paris, stick it in my suitcase, and bring it back to New York–the collections, Laduree, the cheese, the sunshine–but instead I’ve narrowed it down to ten things I can’t live without. (We’re operating in dream world, obviously.) 1. Lace tops & bell bottoms from Rochas. [...]

“Freud’s great unanswered question, ‘What does a woman want?’ seems to be hanging over this round of collections, and it’s already turned up some funny, off-beam stabbings around in the dark. Funny, that is, because isn’t it obvious? What we want is a casual way of dressing that’s also formal enough, new yet not ridiculously [...]

I never thought I’d end up at my first Dries Van Noten show in the same jeans and sweatshirt I’d worn on the red-eye over here–the same flight from which both Hamish Bowles and Diddy (someone mentioned Kanye, but it turned out to be Diddy) emerged looking impossibly fresh. With two hours until show time, [...]

This isn’t a question I’ve considered before. If you take the stripes out of my closet, I probably own about three things that aren’t solid. But on my last day in Doha, we were hitting five different places before the airport so my dad suggested, “Dress nicely.” I pulled an orange and gold polka dotted [...]

Models in the BK: I’m fairly obsessed with Abbey Lee Kershaw, even though I think she spells her name wrong. TheOutNet has some new competition. Browns, the British department store that is kind of like a physical incarnation of Net-a-Porter, just launched a new website called “Labels For Less.” The site offers last season’s merchandise (the good stuff) from both Browns and Browns Focus at pretty severe discounts – up to 70% off.
