eBay Taps Billy Reid, Chris Benz and More for Holiday Collaboration

It’s no longer enough to collaborate with one designer at a time–to really make a statement these days retailers are teaming up with multiple designers at once. (See: the massive Target/Neiman Marcus holiday designer collaboration.) And today brings yet another designer collab announcement.

EBay has wrangled Billy Reid, Chris Benz, Fallon, Jonathan Adler, Ruffian, Steven Alan and Tibi for an exclusive holiday collection, dubbing the group the “eBay Holiday Collective” according to a release. When we think of eBay and designer collabs, it’s usually in the context of “Hmm, I wonder if there are any cheap Missoni x Target bikinis left on eBay.” But the online marketplace has been making an effort to offer original fashion for a while now.

Dolce & Gabbana’s just-debuted couture line is off to a pretty damn good start as several people literally fainted at their recent show. Though it’s likely the fainting was due to the heat, we’d prefer to believe it was due to the collection’s sheer beauty.{The Cut}

You May Want to Start Buying Your Vintage YSL Now, as Brand’s Overhaul Is Set to Make Values Soar

You May Want to Start Buying Your Vintage YSL Now, as Brand’s Overhaul Is Set to Make Values Soar

As if vintage YSL items weren’t sought after enough already, the brand’s recent overhaul is about to make them all the more covetable.

According to Christos Garkinos, co-owner of famed vintage boutique Decades, whenever a brand hires a new creative director, there is a sense of a new era beginning, and “the prior designer’s pieces become more collectible.” Add to that the fact that the new designer will be completely overhauling the brand’s image and logo, and you’ve got a recipe for a seriously collectible–and therefore more valuable–vintage market.

Kanye West’s Nike Sneakers Sell on eBay for Nearly $90,000

His designs may not be such a hit with the fashion crowd but Kanye West‘s name can still command a huge price tag–when it comes to sneakers, anyway.

Kanye’s new kicks for Nike, the Air Yeezy 2, don’t come out until Saturday but some resourceful people have somehow gotten their hands on the much-hyped shoes and already listed them on eBay—for a lot of money.

Most of the sneaks are being listed for anywhere between $2,000-$7,000, but one pair–yes, one pair–fetched the mindblowingly high price of $89,100, TMZ is reporting.

Versace for H&M Has Nothing on Missoni for Target When It Comes to eBay Appeal

It’s become the inevitable next step following the launch of a hyped designer collaboration: eBay. The collections sell out, and immediately get posted on eBay at jacked up prices. “eBay has always been a destination for hot, hard to find products and even in the early days of the first designer collaborations we saw merchandise arise on eBay,” says Miriam Lahage, Global Head of Fashion Brand for eBay. “Even today there are still Luella Bartley for Target (one of the first designer collaborations) on eBay.”

In the case of Versace for H&M, the collection was up on eBay before the launch thanks to an editors-only pre-shop event following the runway show (we’re hoping these are clever interns and not top of the masthead folks looking to make a quick buck–even the gift bag items were up for sale). Since Versace for H&M launched at H&M stores nationwide on Saturday, there are 7,000 listings for the collection on eBay. According to eBay, the average selling price per garment is $191 (Lahage says that prices ‘normalize’ after the initial flurry of postings), the highest sold item was the leather gold studded trench for $899 (original retail price $399) and the most expensive item up for sale is the leather biker jacket with the studded lapels with an asking price of $1200 (originally priced at $299). “Versace for H&M” has been searched 40,000 times since Saturday.
