Is Karl Lagerfeld doing a coffee table book? While we haven’t heard anything confirming that, the modern day renaissance man, who seems to announce a new project every week, spent some time with Mary-Kate and Ashley’s little sis recently. Elizabeth Olsen is the subject of a new Times profile, in which she reveals that the Kaiser made her over an hour late to her interview because he was photographing her for a coffee table book:
The Chanel designer had been shooting her for a coffee table book, and the photo session had gone long. She modeled an oversize classic Chanel tweed jacket for him. ‘I didn’t get to keep it,’ she said, laughing as she pointed to her own nondescript sweater and T-shirt.
Olsen has been getting plenty of positive attention from the fashion world (a Nylon cover, an Elle Women in Hollywood award, etc.), but as ridiculous as it sounds, working with Karl is like the official stamp of approval.
It’s no secret that fashion and movies–and the actresses who make them–go hand-in-hand. ELLE knows this well, and is hosting its 18th annual Women in Hollywood event, co-sponsored by L’Oreal Paris, the Calvin Klein Collection, and David Yurman.
It’s a glam girl-power event every year that honors women’s achievements in film. “As has long been our tradition, this year we honor an extraordinary group of women who continue to redefine what is possible in Hollywood,” said ELLE editor-in-chief Robbie Myers (via a release). “From icons to stars to emerging talent, we are thrilled to celebrate their contribution to understanding what it means to be a woman in the wider world.”
The ceremony will be held this year on Monday, October 17 at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills Hotel. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the lovely and talented ladies who are going to be honored next month.
And the honorees are…(*drumroll*):
Yep, Mary Kate and Ashley’s little sis is Nylon‘s latest cover girl. It’s Elizabeth‘s first glossy cover and definitely won’t be her last. The budding actress is on the annual “It Girls Issue” and that she is. You can tell by the Chanel jacket.
This rumor has been three years in the making. Seriously, we reported on it in 2008. Finally, in 2011, Deadline is confirming that Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, is indeed set to go into production as a TV series on the CW.
The show is tapping former SATC writer Amy Harris and will be executive produced by Candace Bushnell, and Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. As of now, neither Sarah Jessica Parker nor Darren Star, both of whom produced Sex and the City on HBO, are involved. No word yet on if Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively, or Olsen little sis Lizzie, will star in the series.
