Life With Celine Kaplan!

Life With Celine Kaplan!

Celine Kaplan is one of those French women who seems incredibly perfect and intimidating from afar. (I mean, did you SEE her closet on the The Coveteur???) When you do meet her, she’s still incredibly perfect, but also incredibly kind and a joy to be around. Ahh, the French.

Anyway, when I finally got a chance to know Celine while interviewing one of her clients–Laure from The Webster–I soon realized that she’d be the topic of my next Life With column. Celine’s been doing PR for Bourjois and Eres (both owned by Chanel) for over a decade. That was, until the last year when Bourjois stopped distributing their makeup in the US. She still heads up the Eres US PR efforts, and has brought on some other clients you just might be interested in, including The Webster and…wait for it…Laduree! which is planning on opening up shop in America sooner than later.

Almost out of nowhere, Celine acquired her very own boutique firm, CKPR public relations. She and I recently sat down at Balthazaar–yes, even French people like it there–to chat about the industry, what it’s like to be a high power PR, and why the only secret to getting what you want is hard work.

Fashion News Roundup: Nordstrom To NYC, What Designers Will Wear on Halloween, & An Isabella Blow Biopic Is In The Works

SoHo Gets a Nordstrom: New York City is finally getting a Nordstrom. Except it’s not just any ordinary Nordstom–it’s a concept shop with a charity angle. The store will donate all of its earnings to charity. While most of the details are not yet worked out, the store will occupy 11,100 square feet at 350 West Broadway. {Racked}

When Designers Get Into Costume: With Halloween only a few days away, T Magazine asked some of their favorite designers what they were going to be for Halloween. Pamela Love is going as Georgia O’Keeffe, Joseph Altuzarra will dress as wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, Eddie Borgo is going to go as Pee Wee Herman and Chris Benz is deciding between a matador and a bellhop . {T Magazine}

Isabella Blow Biopic: There has been a lot of rumors surrounding the making of a biopic focusing on the life of the late Isabella Blow. Apparently, it’s really happening. The film’s director and producers have all been chosen, and the screenplay has already been written. Set to be involved in the film are John Galliano and Philip Treacy, both who were very close to Blow. {The Cut}

Pretty in Pink: Eight Blushing Items We Want Now

I was cringing a little bit when Lauren’s rant last week about girly design. I love anything pink.

Right now I’m typing on a Macbook covered in a hot pink shell, have a Blackberry with a fuchsia skin, and am reading from notes in my watermelon hued journal. Mind you, I don’t dress in pink from head to toe, but I have quite a bit of pink in my closet. Not sweet pink. Loud pink. Is it only for tweens?

Well, I’m the most, um, mature writer at Fashionista. I mean age, not experience and wisdom. So I’m either regressing or empowered. I’m not really sure. Just in time for the height of summer, here are my favorite pink things. Please, use them sparingly.

Beauty

When Bigger is Better

If you live in New York, you know that we have been cursed with some downright nasty weather these past few weeks. It’s rainy and muggy and dark almost all day long. Almost as depressing is what it’s doing to our hair. Fluffy, frizzy, mess is a bit of an understatement. Which makes these shots Read more →
