Jessica Simpson Finally Gives Birth to Baby Girl Maxwell Drew Johnson

It finally happened: Jessica Simpson gave birth to baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson today. Big congrats to the fashion mogul and her fiance, former NFL-er Eric Johnson!

Simpson is a human lady like any other and it is impossible that her pregnancy went on for much longer than nine months but the longstanding joke has been that Simpson seemed like she was pregnant forever. The operative word announcing her pregnancy over Twitter today is that Simpson “popped.” Of course, Simpson’s pregnancy only seemed never-ending because she’s in the public eye all the time. Still, she showed early and just kept getting bigger. Case in point? That photo of Simpson (above, left) was taken in January. So it’s not a surprise that baby Maxwell weighed in at an impressive 9 lbs. 13 ounces, Us Weekly is reporting.

Yesterday the Simpson sisters–Ashlee and Jessica–threw a little soiree to celebrate their first-ever design collab: A line of clothes for tween girls. The line is for ages 7-16, and this demographic made up most of the crowd at the party at Dylan’s Candy Bar.

I was very jealous of these girls for two reasons: First, they got to decorate and bedazzle jeans and shoes. Second, they got to eat all the candy and mini grilled cheese sandwiches they wanted, while I just stared longingly–wrong week to start a juice cleanse.

Ashlee was there with her adorable son, the curly-haired towhead Bronx; Jessica worked the crowd signing autographs and taking pictures with mini-fans while attentive babydaddy Eric Johnson stayed close by. We waited very patiently to grab a few words with the mom-to-be, who was wearing towering heels and a short leopard print dress.( We overheard her telling several people that flats hurt her feet and she’ll wear her heels as long as possible.) When we finally got to her, she dished to us about working with Ashlee, her new design projects, and finding out the sex of her baby:
