Teen Vogue Invites Bloggers to WWDMagic, Launches a Personal Style Blog Network

Teen Vogue Invites Bloggers to WWDMagic, Launches a Personal Style Blog Network

Fashion industry trade shows can often be an overwhelming and tedious experience for attendees who must navigate through a thousand plus booths of designers, hawking their latest creations. This year, WWDMagic, the Las Vegas-based show, has partnered with Teen Vogue to bring the event to a much, much bigger audience.

They’ve invited 30 bloggers–including Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes and Erica Domesek of P.S. I Made This along with a slew of up-and-comers–to participate in panels, trend reporting, video segments, and competitions as part of a Blogger Concourse Lounge during the three day show (February, 14 – 16, 2011). Teen Vogue will also use the lounge to promote the launch of their personal style blogger network Fashion Click. (Lucky, by the way, is also launching its own blog network.)

Much like Tumblr’s own coverage of NYFW, coverage of the bloggers’ trip will be aggregated to one page: Wwdmagic.tumblr.com.

Last Night’s Party: P.S. We Made Things With Erica Domesek and Kate Spade New York

Last night we were honored to join our DIY guru Erica Domesek of P.S. I Made This to fete her new book at the Kate Spade New York store in SoHo.

But since it’s Erica, she of the golden glue gun, this wasn’t your ordinary schmooze and have some drinks and eat some mini hotdogs type book party (though there were mini hotdogs and they were delicious). She put us to work. We, along with Design Sponge’s Grace Bonney, Andrew Mukamal, Lonny Magazine‘s Michelle Adams, and Style Republic Magazine‘s Brittany Law, were tasked with DIY-ing one of Kate Spade New York’s signature black leather London Totes. Sharpie and crafting site I Love To Create generously supplied us all with tons of great art supplies.

Life With Erica Domesek from P.S. I Made This

Life With Erica Domesek from P.S. I Made This

Since we’ve started a DIY series with Erica Domesek of the fabulous site-turned-book P.S. I Made This, we thought we should get to know her a bit better.

So a few weeks ago, I arrived at Erica’s East Village apartment mid-morning, expecting to have a brief chat with her to find out more about her site and how it came about. I walked into a cloud of smoke coming out of the oven and Erica muttering something about her lack of a vent. She likes to cook almost as much as she likes to craft, and had prepared baked eggs with spinach and baby tomatoes topped by sliced avocado for our informal “chat.” “I love cooking…using my hands to make things, that’s what makes me happy,” she told me. Lucky me.

Getting them out of the oven without a potholder? No problem. A vintage army jacket doubles as a potholder in Erica’s world. She took off her jacket and used it to grab the steaming hot eggs, and without missing a beat said, looked up from the oven and said with a wink “P.S. I made this…potholder.”

Fashion News Roundup: Rag & Bone Documentary, RISD Fashion Show and @Fashionweeknyc Revealed

P.S. I Live Here: As it turns out, the design talents of Erica Domesek of PS I Made This are not limited to clothes and accessories. A tour of her Gramercy Park loft reveals customized vintage subway signs, a laundry basket made into a coffee table, an entire wall of craft supplies and cool inspiration boards. {Casasugar}

Rag & Bone Documentary: Apparently, The September Issue’s R.J. Cutler made a short documentary about the preparations for Rag & Bone’s Fall 2010 runway show. Weirdly, the film is sponsored by Starbuck’s and will be available to view on Frappuccino.com as well as Rag & Bone’s website. There will also be a screening at the Crosby Street Hotel on September 8th. {WWD via Refinery29}

Mysterious Fashion Twitterer
Revealed: @Fashionweeknyc has been discovered. It turns out “she” is a “he.” Nathan Stobezki runs a website called myownrunway.com, calls himself a “Fashion Tweetologist,” like, on Linked In, and boasts such Facebook interests as stock trading, venture capital and, of course, fashion. {Racked}

I Need, I Want, I Have to Have: PS- I Made This… Summer Woven Necklace

It’s been two summers and I’m still really, really into anything that even remotely resembles a friendship bracelet.

Now, the wicked talented Erica Domesek–she of our favorite DIY website, PS- I Made This–has created a rope necklace that I just can’t resist.

Domesek partnered with adorable boutique Tauk–in Montauk, obviously–to release a limited edition run of the macrame necklaces she’s been wearing all summer. And yes, she made them. Each is handwoven with string, bright ropes, and ultra suede.

I’m partial to the navy, black, and white, but let’s be real, they’re all cute.
