Karlie Kloss skipped out on the first half of New York fashion week due to some MTV House of Style obligations (she was at last night’s Grammys) but she’s making up for it by showering us with her Momofuku Milk Bar cookies kookies from a special kookie truck.
New York is unreasonably cold right now. Like impending-blizzard-freeze-your-Rag & Bone-covered-butt-off cold. This is exactly why we, and fashionistas nowhere near New York, are praising the fashion gods (more like IMG & various PR people) for the glorious amount of New York fashion week shows livestreaming this week. We wrangled 89 shows (89!) and presentations to tune into over the course of the next week…with even more coming in! The best part? You won’t be judged for taking in these shows in your pjs over some popcorn or pizza or half a bottle of wine…

They need people willing to put their heads down and work their asses off (not to party, OK?). Oftentimes, if you prove yourself to be an asset during the chaos of fashion week, that two-week internship becomes a semester-long internship–or better still, a full-time job. We know plenty of folks who got their start helping out during fashion week–so trust us: If you’re looking to get a foot in the door in the crazy world of fashion, this is an excellent way to do it.

If you’ve worked in the fashion industry for more than a couple of years, fashion week is the time when you run into everyone–the boss who fired you, the assistant you fired, the intern who got too wasted that one time and puked in the office, the stylist who still makes you quake with fear even though it’s been years since she threw that salad at your face because you forgot to pick out the nuts. And even though everyone is gossiping like mad, you have to make nice and pretend to be breezily OK with all of it.
And this is where the fashion week greeting comes in. You have to say hi to all these people whether you like it or not. So we’re going to break it down for you and try to get you through these greetings with the least amount of awkwardness.
There’s no doubt that the fashion community has embraced Instagram whole-heartedly. In fact, Instagrams have become so important to fashion coverage, that, according to BuzzFeed, even Getty, arguably the biggest and most important wire image site, has embraced them. And they’re selling them for $49 a pop.
As a seasoned livestreamer, running home from school everyday (and sometimes during lunch period) to catch a show made me feel like I was sitting front row, but without the annoying crowds.
